Senior Java Developer

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend applications. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Core Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, SQL, and relational databases. Experience working on high-volume, low-latency applications and financial services/capital markets projects will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Work on complex backend systems involving high transaction volumes and performance requirements.
• Apply object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean coding practices.
• Design and optimise database queries, schemas, indexes, and stored procedures.
• Troubleshoot application, production, and performance issues.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, debugging, and unit testing.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, product, and other engineering teams in an Agile environment.
• Contribute to CI/CD and deployment processes.
• Analyse technical requirements and provide scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical best practices.

Requirements:

• 6-9 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Core Java.
• Strong understanding of: Collections, Multithreading/concurrency, Exception handling, JVM fundamentals, OOP and design principles, Data structures and algorithms.
• Strong experience with Spring / Spring Boot.
• Experience with Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA/Hibernate and Spring Security.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs and microservices architecture.
• Good experience with SQL and RDBMS such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server or Sybase.
• Experience with Maven/Gradle, Git and JUnit.
• Good understanding of Linux/Unix.
• Knowledge of application performance tuning and debugging.
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD and cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure/GCP is preferred. Wissen's Java/cloud roles specifically emphasise scalable distributed systems, cloud, concurrency, databases, messaging and CI/CD.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in Banking & Financial Services / Investment Banking / Capital Markets.
• Experience with high-volume, low-latency applications.
• Knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka/JMS.
• Exposure to distributed systems and caching.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Strong understanding of system design and architectural patterns.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
