About this role
The Senior Integration Developer owns complex integration solutions from discovery through production support for assigned clients. This role converts business and technical requirements into scalable, secure designs; leads implementation activities; resolves complex issues; and provides technical guidance to team members. The senior developer serves as a trusted technical partner to clients, business analysts, quality assurance, project managers, architects, and other engineering teams.
What will you do in this role?
- Lead technical analysis, estimation, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and production support for moderately complex to complex integration work.
- Own assigned integrations end-to-end, including requirements clarification, architecture alignment, detailed design, implementation, quality, documentation, release readiness, and operational transition.
- Design scalable integration solutions using REST APIs, web services, event-driven messaging, scheduled or batch processing, and file-based exchange patterns.
- Recommend appropriate integration patterns based on business criticality, data volume, latency, security, resiliency, maintainability, and support requirements.
- Design and evaluate webhook-based and polling-based triggers, including considerations for latency, scalability, resiliency, monitoring, and downstream processing.
- Design integrations among policy, billing, claims, underwriting, agency or broker, CRM, document, data, and third-party services.
- Lead source-to-target mapping and complex data transformation using JSON, XML, XSLT, SQL, and related technologies; validate data quality and reconciliation requirements.
- Develop and review C#/.NET code, configuration, scripts, and automated tests in accordance with architecture, security, coding, and documentation standards.
- Design or implement solutions using applicable Azure services, which may include App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid, Storage, Key Vault, and monitoring services.
- Define and review API contracts, authentication and authorization approaches, secure credential handling, audit logging, error handling, retry and idempotency behavior, duplicate prevention, logging, monitoring, versioning, and support procedures.
- Provide in-depth troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex production incidents; coordinate remediation, corrective actions, and prevention measures.
- Use API development and testing tools such as Postman to validate contracts, authentication, requests, responses, error paths, and end-to-end integration behavior.
- Partner with quality assurance to define integration test strategies, test data, service virtualization or mocks, regression coverage, and end-to-end validation.
- Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, proof-of-concept activities, and impact assessments; identify risks, constraints, dependencies, and alternatives.
- Prepare and present technical solutions, estimates, implementation plans, and tradeoffs to internal leaders, project teams, and client stakeholders.
- Mentor developers through design guidance, code reviews, pairing, knowledge sharing, and practical feedback; lead small technical workstreams when assigned.
- Create and maintain high-quality architecture diagrams, interface specifications, data mappings, deployment plans, runbooks, and customer-facing technical documentation.
- Contribute to reusable integration patterns, accelerators, standards, and lessons learned that improve delivery consistency across clients.
- Stay current with insurance technology, cloud integration, security, data, and software engineering practices.
What do you need to succeed in this role?
- Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- Five or more years of related software development or systems integration experience, including ownership of production integrations.
- Demonstrates strong AI acumen, with the ability to effectively leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Strong proficiency in C#/.NET, SQL, relational database concepts, REST APIs, web services, JSON, XML, and XSLT.
- Experience designing and supporting secure, observable, and resilient internal and external integrations.
- Experience with data migration, source-to-target mapping, transformation, data validation, and reconciliation.
- Demonstrated ability to estimate work, make sound technical decisions, communicate tradeoffs, and lead delivery of moderately complex solutions.
- Strong understanding of enterprise system integration points, cross-system dependencies, data flows, and operational impacts.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to prioritize across multiple workstreams and guide others while remaining accountable for hands-on delivery.
- Hands-on experience with Azure integration services, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure or configuration automation, automated testing, and observability platforms.
- Experience using AI coding assistants and large language model APIs to support software development, documentation, code analysis, and test creation.
- Working knowledge of insurance business processes and data across policy, billing, claims, underwriting, distribution, or reinsurance.
- Experience applying ACORD standards or integrating insurance core platforms and third-party providers.
- Experience in consulting or professional services, including technical discovery, estimation, solution presentations, and production transition.
