Role Summary:
Design, develop, and maintain robust installer solutions for a healthcare platform using InstallShield and .NET. Ensure reliable installation, upgrade, rollback, and data preservation processes, while collaborating on documentation, diagnostics, and proof-of-concept delivery.
What Youll Do:
- Build Suite installers to orchestrate platform core, plugins, and modules in correct dependency order
- Implement major, minor, and patch upgrade paths aligned with product release cadence
- Handle transaction state, pre-upgrade snapshots, commit points, and atomic commit-or-revert behavior
- Manage failure handling, retries, rollbacks, and safe-hold paths for ambiguous states
- Develop custom actions and prerequisites in InstallShield; wrap third-party redistributables with detection/version checks
- Integrate diagnostics and telemetry into installation and upgrade processes
- Ensure data preservation during upgrades and rollbacks following customer data-handling mechanisms
- Integrate installer build with codesigning and certificate processes; support multiple installation modes
- Produce installer documentation for solution design, installation, upgrade, and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with Test Engineer to address upgrade testing and defect resolution
- Deliver proof of concept demonstrating install, upgrade, induced failure, and rollback on Windows 11
What We re Looking For (Must-Haves):
- Experience in the Health Care domain
- BE qualification
- Expertise with InstallShield - Basic MSI, InstallScript, and Suite/Advanced UI projects
- Strong knowledge of Windows Installer (MSI) internals and upgrade strategies
- Experience with .NET runtime deployment and packaging third-party redistributables
- Scripting skills in PowerShell, InstallScript, and one of C#, C++, or VBScript
- Familiarity with registry, file system, service control, and configuration-migration techniques
- Competence in installer logging, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis
- Experience with build automation and source control for installer projects
Good to Have (Optional - only if mentioned):
- Experience in regulated medical device or regulated environments
- Exposure to zero-downtime or minimal-downtime upgrade patterns
- Knowledge of MSIX or WiX packaging technologies
- Experience integrating installers with telemetry or device-management platforms
- Prior experience with plugin-based or extensible product architectures
