Senior IBM Z Disaster Recovery Specialist

Job Summary

As a Senior IBM Z Disaster Recovery Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity solutions for IBM Z (Mainframe) environments. You will ensure the resilience, availability, and recoverability of critical business systems while supporting enterprise-wide recovery objectives and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and hands-on support for IBM Z disaster recovery exercises, failover testing, and recovery events.
• Execute and validate recovery procedures to ensure critical systems, applications, and services meet defined RTO and RPO targets.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, database, middleware, network, and security teams to coordinate successful recovery operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues identified during DR testing, recovery execution, and resilience assessments.
• Maintain and enhance disaster recovery documentation, runbooks, recovery procedures, and operational standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing recovery outcomes, mitigating risks, and strengthening enterprise resiliency and business continuity capabilities.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 7+ years of experience in IBM Z (Mainframe) platform administration, operations, infrastructure support, and advanced technical troubleshooting within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience supporting and executing Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity activities in enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of IBM Z infrastructure components, including z/OS, storage, networking, database, middleware, and security technologies.
• Experience performing recovery validation, recovery testing, and analysis of DR exercise outcomes.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure operations, production support, incident management, and service restoration processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and coordinate recovery activities across multiple technology domains.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Experience with IBM GDPS, Parallel Sysplex, replication technologies, and DR orchestration tools.
• Knowledge of enterprise resiliency, high-availability, and business continuity frameworks.
• Familiarity with Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) management.
• Experience participating in large-scale recovery exercises, failover testing, and audit/compliance activities.
• Relevant IBM Mainframe, Infrastructure, Disaster Recovery, or Business Continuity certifications.
