About DigiAlly
DigiAlly is a financial intelligence and credit risk firm headquartered in Thane, Maharashtra. We produce institutional-grade company analysis, credit assessments, peer benchmarking and investment research on Indian companies, listed and unlisted, across a wide range of industries. Our clients rely on this work to make lending, investment and partnership decisions.
We hold our research to one standard: every figure traces to a primary source or a named database, and data gaps are disclosed rather than estimated.
The Role
The Senior Financial Analyst owns company and industry analysis end to end: researching the industry, sourcing filings, spreading financial statements, analysing ratios and business performance, assessing financial health and credit quality, writing the report, verifying it against primary sources and presenting it to clients.
The role reports directly to the founder and carries full accountability for the accuracy of every deliverable.
Success in the role rests on five attributes:
- Accuracy - Our reports inform lending and investment decisions. A misread audit opinion or a benchmark computed from a single peer rather than the full set is a material error, and detecting such errors before release is central to the role.
- Logical reasoning and problem solving - Framing an unfamiliar company or an incomplete set of filings as a clear analytical question, and working it through to a well-supported answer.
- Judgement - Converting ratios, filings and alternative data into a defensible view of a company's performance and financial health, with the strength of evidence behind each finding made explicit.
- Writing - Neutral, precise, well-structured prose in which metric comparisons replace adjectives.
- Independence - Managing several assignments in parallel, remotely, with full ownership of scope, versions and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Company Analysis: Analyse each company's business model, revenue and product mix, cost structure, capital allocation and growth drivers, and relate the financial trends to what the business is actually doing.
- Industry Research: Research the industry each company operates in - structure, size and growth, demand drivers, regulation, competitive dynamics and key players - and place the company's performance in that context.
- Financial Statement and Ratio Analysis: Spread standalone and consolidated financial statements from statutory filings, annual reports and financial databases. Compute and interpret the full ratio set - profitability, liquidity, leverage, efficiency, coverage and cash-flow ratios - alongside working-capital cycles, lease-adjusted leverage and restricted versus unrestricted cash. Prepare cash flow statements from the balance sheet and P&L where filings omit them.
- Financial Health and Credit Assessment: Produce structured assessments that evaluate financial health, earnings quality and payment behaviour, assign a risk category and document the rationale.
- Research Reports: Write full-length research reports on listed and unlisted companies covering industry context, business model, financial performance, capital raises, corporate milestones, governance and outlook.
- Peer Benchmarking: Construct peer sets, compute benchmark statistics across the full set and produce benchmarking presentations with supporting workbooks.
- Quality Assurance: Verify reports and presentations against source data before release, document discrepancies and tag each finding by evidence strength (primary filing, secondary database or unverified claim).
- Audit and Governance Review: Read audit reports precisely, distinguishing the opinion on financial statements from the opinion on internal financial controls. Track qualifications, emphasis-of-matter paragraphs, related-party transactions and registered charges.
- Alternative Data: Use statutory, tax and banking records as post-year-end and compliance signals beyond audited financials.
- Client Engagement: Prepare briefs for management and stakeholder interviews, present findings to clients and respond to follow-up queries.
- Methodology: Maintain analytical models, templates and review checklists, and propose improvements as new risk patterns emerge.
Qualifications and Experience
Professional Qualifications:-
- Chartered Accountant (ICAI) - Preferred
- CFA Charterholder - Preferred
- MBA (Finance) - Acceptable, including for candidates with an engineering undergraduate degree
The ideal candidate holds both CA and CFA. Candidates with one of the two, or with an MBA (Finance), supported by directly relevant experience, are encouraged to apply.
Experience
- 5-7 years of hands-on experience analysing companies and their industries: reading financial statements, computing and interpreting ratios, and forming a view on business performance and financial health. Direct analytical experience is essential.
- Hands-on experience with Indian company financials under Ind AS and Indian GAAP, Companies Act filings and the MCA portal.
- A record of authored company analyses or research reports; writing samples will be requested.
Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills:-
- Fluent reading of balance sheets and P&L statements, including notes and schedules, and the ability to prepare a cash flow statement from them that reconciles to the movement in cash.
- Thorough knowledge of financial ratios - profitability, liquidity, leverage, efficiency, coverage and cash-flow ratios - and of how to interpret them in the context of the business and its industry.
- Industry research: building a clear picture of an industry's structure, growth and competitive dynamics, and relating a company's numbers to it.
- Financial modelling in Excel: three-statement spreads, cash-flow and debt-service coverage projections.
- Working knowledge of Ind AS, including lease accounting and its effect on leverage metrics.
- Assessment of financial health, earnings quality and credit risk.
- Familiarity with statutory and exchange disclosures (MCA, SEBI/BSE/NSE) and commercial financial databases.
- Production of client-ready reports and presentations in Word and PowerPoint to a defined house style.
Professional Skills:-
- Strong logical reasoning and structured problem solving - essential.
- Rigour with data: gaps are disclosed, never silently estimated.
- Neutral, factual writing with specifics in place of adjectives.
- Attention to detail at the level of audit opinion wording and footnote disclosures.
- Self-directed remote working: several assignments in parallel, disciplined version control, deadlines met without supervision.
- Clear, concise written communication; comfortable working from short briefs with rapid iteration.
Working Arrangement:-
- Fully remote within India; no office attendance required.
- Core hours 10:00-18:00 IST, with flexibility for occasional client calls outside these hours.
- Written-first collaboration with disciplined version control on all deliverables.
- Access to the firm's data subscriptions, templates and analytical models.
- Direct working relationship with the founder, including review of each deliverable before client release.
What We Offer:-
- A senior individual-contributor role with direct influence on methodology and the firm's research products.
- Breadth of work: listed and unlisted companies across industries, credit and equity perspectives, and alternative data alongside audited financials.
- Full-time, fully remote employment.
