Senior Executive - Imports and Exports Operations

Role & responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end import and export operations for Raw Materials (RM), Packaging Materials (PM), Engineering Items, and Finished Goods, ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of shipments.
• Handle customs clearance activities and ensure compliance with Customs, DGFT, Foreign Trade Policy, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with Customs House Agents (CHA), freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, and regulatory authorities for seamless shipment execution.
• Review import and export transactions for regulatory compliance, product eligibility, tariff classifications, and licensing requirements.
• Prepare, verify, and manage import/export documentation including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bill of Lading, Air Waybills, Shipping Bills, Certificate of Origin, Insurance Documents, and related customs documentation.
• Drive customs duty optimization initiatives through effective utilization of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), tariff benefits, and trade compliance programs
• Manage EPCG licenses, monitor export obligations, and ensure timely compliance and closure of licensing requirements.
• Collaborate closely with Procurement, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, Legal, and Supply Chain teams to support business continuity and inventory requirements.
• Coordinate with domestic and international suppliers regarding shipment schedules, documentation accuracy, and statutory requirements.
• Ensure timely customs clearance of shipments to avoid detention, demurrage, and operational disruptions.
• Support export inspections, certifications, and country-specific compliance requirements for international shipments.
• Monitor logistics costs, shipment performance, and service levels while identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
• Maintain strong relationships with customs authorities, logistics partners, and government agencies to facilitate smooth trade operations.
• Ensure accurate record keeping, audit readiness, and compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• 4-8 years of experience in Import Export Operations, International Logistics, Customs Clearance, or Trade Compliance.
• Strong knowledge of Customs Regulations, DGFT, Foreign Trade Policy, EPCG, FTAs, HS Classification, and Import-Export Documentation.
• Experience working with CHAs, Freight Forwarders, Shipping Lines, and Regulatory Authorities.
• Good understanding of international logistics, freight management, and supply chain processes.
• Strong stakeholder management, coordination, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in SAP/ERP systems and MS Office.
