Senior Executive / Assistant Manager - Biomedical Engineering

1. Job Purpose

To ensure optimal uptime, safety, maintenance, and lifecycle management of medical equipment across the hospital. The role supports clinical departments by coordinating preventive maintenance, breakdown management, equipment procurement support, vendor management, and regulatory compliance to ensure uninterrupted patient care.

2. Key Accountabilities

A. Medical Equipment Maintenance & Uptime

• Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of all biomedical equipment.
• Coordinate timely resolution of equipment breakdowns.
• Monitor equipment uptime and service performance.
• Support emergency repair requirements in critical care and patient care areas.

B. Asset Management

• Maintain accurate inventory of biomedical equipment.
• Monitor AMC/CMC schedules, warranties, and service contracts.
• Track equipment utilization and lifecycle status.
• Support annual asset verification exercises.

C. Vendor Coordination

• Liaise with OEMs and service providers for maintenance activities.
• Coordinate installation, commissioning, calibration, and equipment demonstrations.
• Track service reports and vendor performance.

D. Equipment Procurement & Project Support

• Provide technical evaluation during procurement of biomedical equipment.
• Assist in equipment specifications, comparative analysis, and user requirement assessments.
• Coordinate installation and commissioning for new equipment.

E. Regulatory & Quality Compliance

• Ensure compliance with NABH/JCI requirements related to biomedical equipment.
• Maintain equipment calibration and maintenance records.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Ensure safety testing and regulatory documentation are up to date.

F. User Training & Support

• Coordinate basic user training for clinical teams on equipment usage and care.
• Provide first-level troubleshooting support where applicable.
• Educate users on safe equipment handling practices.

G. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and service records.
• Prepare monthly reports on equipment uptime, breakdown trends, and maintenance activities.
• Monitor compliance with maintenance KPIs.

4. Educational Qualification

Essential

• B.E./B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering
• Diploma in Biomedical Engineering (with relevant experience)

Preferred

• Certification in Medical Equipment Management
• Training from Medical Equipment OEMs

5. Relevant Experience

• 5 to 9 years of experience in Biomedical Engineering.
• Experience handling ICU, OT, Cath Lab, Radiology, and general medical equipment.
• Experience in equipment maintenance planning, vendor management, and accreditation support.
