Senior Engineering Manager

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager - Backend with strong backend engineering expertise and proven people management skills. The ideal candidate should have managed a team of 12+ engineers and possess a strong understanding of scalable backend systems, system architecture, and financial technology products.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 12+ backend engineers, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
• Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems and APIs.
• Drive system architecture, technical strategy, and engineering best practices.
• Work closely with Product, Business, and other engineering teams to deliver business-critical features.
• Ensure the security, reliability, scalability, and performance of backend systems, particularly in financial technology applications.
• Drive code quality, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and deployment best practices.
• Own project planning, resource allocation, technical roadmaps, and delivery timelines.
• Guide the team in troubleshooting complex technical issues and resolving production incidents.
• Mentor engineers, conduct performance reviews, and build a high-performing engineering culture.
• Ensure adherence to relevant financial data security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

• Strong experience in backend development using technologies such as Python, Java, Go, Node.js, or similar.
• Proven experience managing and leading a team of 12+ engineers.
• Strong understanding of system design, microservices, distributed systems, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, caching, message queues, and performance optimisation.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of security, data privacy, transaction reliability, and fault-tolerant system design.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
