Senior Engineering Manager - Backend

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager - Backend to lead our backend engineering team, drive technical excellence, and build scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems. The ideal candidate should have strong backend development experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead engineers while remaining hands-on with system design and technical decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of backend engineers, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
• Design and develop scalable, secure, and reliable backend systems and APIs.
• Drive architectural decisions, system design, and engineering best practices.
• Work closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver business-critical features.
• Review code, improve code quality, and establish standards for testing, documentation, and deployment.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and ensure system scalability, reliability, and security.
• Own project planning, task prioritisation, technical roadmaps, and delivery timelines.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and innovation.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and guide the team in resolving production challenges.
• Evaluate new technologies and tools to improve engineering productivity and system performance.

Requirements:

• Strong experience in backend software development using technologies such as Python, Java, Go, Node.js, or similar.
• Fintech company exposure.
• Solid understanding of system design, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of databases, including SQL and NoSQL systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.
