What You'll Be Doing

Principal Accountabilities:

• Develop and customize Linux BSPs for embedded platforms and custom hardware boards.
• Perform board bring-up, Linux kernel customization, device driver development, and hardware-software integration.
• Develop, port, and debug bootloaders, particularly U-Boot, for embedded SoCs.
• Customize embedded Linux distributions using Yocto, BitBake, Buildroot, or similar build systems.
• Implement and integrate security features such as Secure Boot, Chain of Trust, HSM, secure key management, and firmware authentication.
• Develop secure firmware update mechanisms, including image signing, verification, and integrity checks.
• Perform Linux security hardening, kernel patch integration, access control, and system-level debugging.
• Debug boot failures, kernel issues, and hardware-related problems using JTAG, UART, and other diagnostic tools.
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure and reliable embedded solutions.

Job Complexity:

• Drive technical implementation of Linux BSP, board bring-up, kernel, device drivers, and bootloader development.
• Lead integration of embedded security mechanisms across bootloader, firmware, and operating system layers.
• Resolve complex hardware-software integration and security issues. Review technical designs, code quality, testing approaches, and security implementations.
• Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams.

What Are We Looking For

• 5–8 years of experience in embedded firmware development, Linux BSP, and embedded security.
• Strong knowledge of C/C++, Linux kernel programming, device drivers, and kernel internals.
• Hands-on experience with Yocto, BitBake, Buildroot, and embedded Linux distributions.
• Experience in board bring-up, U-Boot, bootloader porting, and hardware-software integration.
• Practical knowledge of Secure Boot, Chain of Trust, HSM/TPM, cryptography, and secure firmware updates.
• Experience with embedded SoCs from NXP, TI, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, or similar vendors.
• Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, JTAG, and hardware debugging tools.
• Proficiency in Git, Linux shell scripting, Python, and automated build and testing tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Education

• B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field.
