Senior Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of detailed cost estimates for Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) scope, including BOQ/MTO development (specifically in water, waste water and ZLD), material take-off and vendor budgetary quotations.
• Develop technically compliant and commercially competitive estimates based on project specifications, P&IDs, electrical single-line diagrams, instrument index, I/O lists, equipment data sheets and client specifications.
• Review RFQs, tender documents, client specifications and scope of supply to identify inclusions, exclusions, deviations and cost-impacting requirements.
• Prepare and validate BOQ/MTO for instruments, control valves, analyzers, junction boxes, cables, cable trays, panels, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, MCC interfaces, earthing, lighting and other E&I items as applicable.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, vendors and project teams to obtain technically suitable and cost-effective inputs and ensure timely submission of estimates.
• Compare vendor quotations, conduct technical-commercial evaluations and establish reliable budgetary rates for estimation.
• Support proposal and tender teams during technical clarifications, cost optimization, value engineering and commercial negotiations.
• Ensure estimates are aligned with approved Electrical & Instrumentation specifications, applicable standards, project requirements, execution methodology and schedule.
• Review E&I specifications, drawings, datasheets and engineering deliverables to ensure complete and accurate cost inputs.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in E&I engineering, estimation, proposals, costing or project execution, preferably in water/wastewater or industrial projects.
• Strong working knowledge of Electrical and Instrumentation specifications, standards, datasheets, BOQs/MTOs and engineering deliverables.
• Hands-on experience in preparing detailed E&I cost estimates from tender documents, drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
• Good understanding of electrical systems including HT/LT equipment interfaces, MCCs, PCCs, transformers, cables, cable trays, earthing, lighting and electrical installation requirements.
• Good understanding of instrumentation systems including field instruments, control valves, analysers, PLC/DCS/SCADA, ESD/FGS, junction boxes, instrument cables and associated installation requirements.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, SLDs, instrument index, I/O lists, cable schedules, equipment datasheets and technical specifications.
