Senior Engineer - Full Stack / Backend

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our engineering team and take end-to-end ownership of high-scale, event-driven systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, React, AWS serverless technologies, DynamoDB, and distributed event-driven architectures. You will work closely with product, design, operations, data science, and engineering teams to design, build, deploy, and operate reliable systems in a high-volume production environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable applications and services.
• Build and maintain GraphQL APIs and event-driven backend services.
• Develop services supporting driver communication across SMS, push notifications, and email.
• Design and implement rule engines, cohorting, scheduling, and message delivery workflows.
• Build onboarding, registration, applicant tracking, eligibility, consent, and authentication workflows.
• Develop real-time workflows that consume live offer and market-clearing data.
• Design systems that ensure messages are delivered accurately without duplicate or unintended notifications.
• Implement idempotency and reliability mechanisms for at-least-once event delivery.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design for complex distributed systems.
• Write technical design documents and break projects into clear, executable milestones.
• Own features throughout the complete lifecycle design, development, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Improve system reliability, observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• Integrate third-party platforms, APIs, and webhooks while maintaining data consistency across services.
• Identify and proactively address reliability, data quality, scalability, and compliance requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high engineering standards.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
• Leverage AI-native development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools to improve engineering productivity.

Requirements:

• Experience: 5-7+ Years.
• Backend and Programming: TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL.
• Strong experience building production-grade APIs and services.
• AWS and Cloud: Strong hands-on experience with AWS serverless technologies, including AWS Lambda, AWS AppSync, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon EventBridge, and Amazon SQS.
• Frontend: React, React Native.
• Architecture: Event-driven architecture, distributed systems, serverless architecture, at-least-once delivery patterns, idempotency and duplicate-event handling, production reliability and observability, and DynamoDB single-table design.
• Integrations: Third-party API integrations, webhooks, and data synchronization across multiple services.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with applicant tracking systems, recruitment funnels, or onboarding platforms.
• Experience working with funnel analytics and drop-off analysis.
• Experience with experimentation platforms such as Statsig.
• Exposure to Redshift, Databricks, or Fivetran.
• Experience with data pipelines and analytics infrastructure.
• Experience designing consent models and compliance-related workflows.
• Experience working with multi-channel communication systems such as SMS, push, and email.
• Experience with Firebase Authentication.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.

• Have 5-7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Have experience building and operating high-traffic production applications.
• Demonstrate strong ownership of projects from conception through production.
• Understand the operational impact and failure modes of production systems.
• Have strong problem-solving and system-design capabilities.
• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
• Be able to make pragmatic technical decisions considering engineering effort, cost, scalability, and vendor dependencies.
• Have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Be comfortable working with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, Operations, Data Science, and Support.
