Senior DevOps Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, highly available cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated application build, testing, deployment, and release management.
• Manage Kubernetes and containerized environments using Docker, Helm, and related orchestration tools.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent tools.
• Implement GitOps and deployment automation using tools such as Argo CD, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
• Establish comprehensive monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, CloudWatch, or similar platforms.
• Improve system reliability, availability, scalability, performance, and resilience through automation and engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, participate in incident response and root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
• Implement cloud and infrastructure security controls, including IAM, RBAC, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and secure configuration.
• Design and maintain backup, disaster recovery, high-availability, and business-continuity solutions.
• Monitor infrastructure utilization and drive cloud cost optimization and FinOps initiatives.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks such as provisioning, configuration, scaling, patching, deployments, and environment management.
• Collaborate closely with software engineering, QA, security, data, platform, and SRE teams to improve developer and operational workflows.
• Participate in architecture and technology evaluations, recommending tools and platforms that improve reliability and engineering productivity.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, deployment standards, and operational procedures.
• Mentor junior DevOps engineers and contribute to engineering standards, code reviews, and best-practice adoption.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5 to 10 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related role.
• Strong hands-on expertise with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including cloud infrastructure, networking, IAM, security, and compute/storage services.
• Advanced experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Helm, and Ansible.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, GitOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Argo CD.
• Strong Linux administration and working knowledge of networking, DNS, load balancing, VPC/VNet, firewalls, and security controls.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, Go, or similar scripting/programming languages for infrastructure automation.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, CloudWatch, Datadog, or comparable observability platforms.
• Good understanding of SRE principles, SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident management, RCA, and production reliability.
• Experience designing high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, and disaster-recovery architectures.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, system design, and production infrastructure.
• Experience with cloud security, DevSecOps, secrets management, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements.
• Exposure to cloud cost optimization, capacity planning, and FinOps practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, and automation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to own production environments and drive technical initiatives independently.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across engineering and business teams.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical guidance is preferred.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
• Certifications such as AWS/Azure/GCP, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA/CKS), or HashiCorp Terraform are advantageous.
