ROLE OVERVIEW: We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead key infrastructure initiatives and support our DevOps team. In this role, you will own the deployment architecture across customer environments, debug and resolve production issues, architect new deployment configurations, and serve as the technical bridge between our development team and customers. You will mentor a team of 3–5 DevOps engineers and be the go-to expert for infrastructure, networking, and deployment-related challenges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Architecture & Deployment

• Design, size, and deploy Kloudspot instances across diverse environments (cloud and on-premise, including air-gapped networks).
• Own and continuously improve our Kubernetes Helm charts for standardized, repeatable deployments.
• Evaluate and architect deployment strategies for new customer engagements and POCs.

Production Support & Incident Management

• Lead debugging and resolution of production issues across customer environments.
• Monitor POC and production instances for health, performance, and reliability.
• Identify root causes of issues arising from customer-specific infrastructure conditions and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders and leadership.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor and guide a team of 3–5 DevOps engineers.
• Translate high-level business and customer requirements into actionable technical tasks.
• Foster a culture of ownership, automation, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with the development and testing teams to align deployment architecture with application requirements.
• Discuss bugs, new features, and architectural changes with the development team to ensure seamless integration.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for partners and customers on deployment-related queries (firewall configurations, server sizing, networking, etc.).

Tooling & Automation

• Maintain and optimize self-hosted Bitbucket runners for CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop internal tooling (Golang/Python) to automate repetitive infrastructure and deployment tasks.
• Write and maintain Bash scripts for infrastructure automation and operational efficiency.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or a related role.
• Proven experience managing deployments across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and on-premise environments.
• Experience working with air-gapped or restricted network environments is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

• Linux: Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals — service management, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Kubernetes: Deep experience with Kubernetes deployments, including self-managed clusters and managed services (EKS, GKE, OKE). Proficiency with Helm chart development and maintenance.
• Docker: Solid experience with containerization, image building, and container orchestration.
• Networking: Working knowledge of firewalls, routing, DNS, load balancing, and network troubleshooting.
• Scripting: Comfortable writing and maintaining Bash scripts for automation.
• CI/CD: Hands-on experience with Bitbucket Pipelines and self-hosted runners.
• Monitoring: Experience with Prometheus/ Grafana-based observability stacks (kube-prometheus-stack).

Programming (Bonus)

• Ability to read and debug Java and JavaScript applications.
• Experience developing tooling in Golang or Python is a strong plus.

Soft Skills

• Leadership: Ability to take high-level requirements, break them down, and mentor team members effectively.
• Communication: Comfortable speaking directly with customers and partners to explain technical concepts (server sizing, firewall rules, deployment architecture) in clear, non-jargon language.
• Problem-solving: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose issues in unfamiliar, customer-specific environments.
• Stakeholder management: Ability to clearly communicate to leadership why an issue exists and what the resolution path looks like.
