Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer with strong expertise in automotive sheet-metal product and tool design, including complex 3D part development, progressive tooling, CAD modelling, simulation, NPD, and tooling development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex 3D sheet-metal components, press tools, dies, fixtures, and assemblies.
• Develop progressive, compound, and other press tooling as per product and process requirements.
• Prepare and review 2D drawings, 3D models, BOMs, GD&T, and engineering documentation.
• Conduct/interpret forming and tooling simulations for feasibility, manufacturability, and design optimization.
• Handle NPD, prototype development, design validation, ECN/ECR, and engineering changes.
• Coordinate with Tool Room, Production, Quality, Purchase, and NPD teams for design and tooling issues.
• Support tool trials, modifications, corrections, and process improvements.
• Optimize designs for quality, cost, productivity, manufacturability, and tool life.
• Mentor junior engineers and maintain design revisions and technical records.

Qualifications & Skills

• B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent.
• 10 to 12 years of relevant experience in automotive sheet-metal product and tooling design.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of complex 3D part design and press tool/die design.
• Experience in progressive tooling and tooling development.
• Proficiency in UG NX, CATIA, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD, GD&T, BOM, engineering drawings, simulation, NPD, and ECN/ECR.
• Good understanding of sheet-metal manufacturing, press shop, tool room processes, and tool trials.
• Strong problem-solving, leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
