Senior Data Operations Manage r to lead our vessel data operations, customer onboarding, and performance analytics team. This role is ideal for someone with strong maritime domain expertise, a passion for data quality, and experience leading operational teams in a fast-paced technology environment.

About the Role: As the

Senior Data Operations Manager , you will oversee the complete lifecycle of vessel data operations - from customer onboarding and sensor data validation to performance analytics and ongoing customer support. You will lead a team responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and quality of operational vessel data collected from onboard monitoring systems. Working closely with Engineering, Product, Customer Success, Sales, and customers, you will help deliver actionable insights that enable smarter operational decisions, improve fleet performance, and generate measurable fuel savings. This is a strategic leadership role that combines people management with hands-on operational excellence, requiring deep knowledge of maritime operations, vessel performance, sensor-based monitoring systems, and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Data Operations team responsible for vessel onboarding, monitoring, and data quality.
• Build scalable operational processes to support FitVoyages' global growth.
• Allocate resources, manage workloads, and monitor team performance.
• Establish KPIs and operational dashboards for data quality, onboarding timelines, and customer success.
• Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and customer excellence.

Vessel Onboarding & Customer Success

• Oversee the end-to-end onboarding of vessels onto the FitVoyages platform.
• Coordinate installation readiness with customers, OEMs, and engineering teams.
• Ensure successful integration of fuel flow meters, shaft power meters, mass flow meters, GPS, and other onboard sensors.
• Validate incoming vessel data before customer activation.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex customer onboarding challenges.

Data Operations & Quality

• Develop and maintain high standards for vessel operational data quality.
• Monitor real-time vessel data streams and proactively identify anomalies.
• Lead investigations into missing, inaccurate, or inconsistent data.
• Work closely with Engineering to improve automated validation and monitoring systems.
• Establish data governance standards across customer fleets.

Vessel Performance Analytics

• Analyze fuel consumption, shaft power, engine performance, and voyage efficiency.
• Support customers with operational insights that improve fuel efficiency and emissions performance.
• Generate performance reports and dashboards.
• Collaborate with Product teams to develop new analytics features.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to improve platform capabilities.
• Partner with Sales during customer implementations and technical discussions.
• Collaborate with Customer Success to resolve operational issues efficiently.
• Provide feedback that influences the product roadmap and future platform enhancements.

Process Improvement & Automation

• Identify manual operational workflows suitable for automation.
• Improve onboarding processes and operational scalability.
• Develop SOPs and best practices for vessel monitoring and data operations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

Requirements: Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Studies, Mechanical Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in maritime operations, vessel performance monitoring, marine engineering, or offshore shipping.
• 2+ years of experience managing operational or data-focused teams.
• Experience working with vessel performance systems, sensor integrations, or maritime SaaS platforms.
• Strong understanding of offshore vessel operations and marine equipment.
• Experience supporting global customers in technical or operational roles is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience working with operational datasets generated from vessels.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of SQL and/or Python is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with IoT devices, sensor data, telemetry, or industrial monitoring systems is an advantage.
• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau is a plus.

Maritime Knowledge Strong understanding of:
