Senior Data Architect - GSC Intelligence

Role Summary

The Global Supply Chain Data Architect will define and drive the target-state data architecture for Global Supply Chain (GSC), enabling trusted, governed, and reusable data products across planning, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, inventory, quality, and performance management. This role partners with business and technology stakeholders to establish scalable architecture standards, data models, governance frameworks, and integration patterns that support analytics and digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise & Supply Chain Data Architecture

• Define and maintain the target-state Global Supply Chain data architecture.
• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for supply chain domains.
• Establish architecture standards, reference architectures, and integration patterns.
• Design scalable data flows across operational, analytical, and digital ecosystems.
• Drive architecture roadmaps aligned with business and technology strategies.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security, privacy, governance, and data management standards.

Data Products & Enablement

• Define and enable reusable supply chain data products across Plan, Source, Make, and Deliver functions.
• Partner with business stakeholders to establish data product ownership, consumption models, SLAs, and quality expectations.
• Define data contracts, canonical business entities, and interoperability standards.
• Promote reuse of data pipelines, models, reports, and metrics across the organization.
• Guide teams on data product lifecycle management and architecture best practices.

Data Modeling, Governance & Metadata Management

• Design and govern core supply chain entities including:
• Material
• Supplier
• Customer
• Inventory
• Location
• Shipment
• Production
• Quality
• Cost
• Establish standards for metadata, lineage, business glossary, ownership, and critical data elements.
• Embed data quality, observability, access controls, retention, and auditability into data architecture.
• Partner with governance councils to address ownership, definitions, and compliance requirements.

Technical Leadership

• Lead architecture reviews and design discussions with engineering and delivery teams.
• Evaluate solutions for scalability, reliability, maintainability, security, and cost optimization.
• Review technical decisions and provide recommendations on architecture trade-offs.
• Maintain architecture governance artifacts, technical debt assessments, and dependency roadmaps.
• Lead proof-of-concepts and evaluate emerging technologies that enhance supply chain data products.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Enterprise IT, Data Platform, Governance, Security, and Business Leaders.
• Translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes and recommendations.
• Influence architecture decisions across multiple teams and functions.
• Drive alignment between business priorities, governance requirements, and platform capabilities.

Professional Experience

• 12+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or Enterprise Data Management.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms and supply chain data ecosystems.
• Experience leading architecture initiatives across multiple business functions and stakeholders.
• Strong experience with governance frameworks, MDM, and data product delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Manufacturing, Logistics, Healthcare Supply Chain, Retail, FMCG, or Distribution industries.
• Experience with SAP ecosystem (SAP ECC, S/4HANA, SAP Supply Chain, SAP IBP, SAP BW).
• Exposure to Data Mesh, Data Contracts, and Modern Data Product architectures.
• Experience establishing enterprise data standards and architecture governance processes.
