This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Consultant, Director of Sales based in United States.
This senior commercial leadership role is responsible for driving strategic growth across a defined U.S. territory. You will lead a regional sales team while developing relationships with major clients across environmental, industrial, energy, infrastructure, and government sectors. The role combines new business development, strategic account management, proposal leadership, and market expansion. You will work closely with technical experts and cross-functional teams to connect complex consulting capabilities with customer needs. Success requires strong commercial judgment, an understanding of technical services, and the ability to turn market intelligence into actionable growth strategies. The position offers substantial autonomy, frequent client engagement, and the opportunity to shape business development across a diverse geography. Expect a highly mobile, relationship-driven environment, with approximately 50% travel and occasional support for urgent emergency-response opportunities.
Accountabilities:: Lead strategic sales and business development activities across an assigned U.S. territory, identifying new markets, prospects, strategic accounts, and opportunities aligned with organizational growth priorities.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, serving as a primary commercial point of contact and expanding strategic accounts through proactive engagement and contract management.
Lead and coach a regional sales team, providing oversight, mentoring, strategic direction, and support while helping team members develop their client relationships and sales capabilities.
Drive the sales pipeline by prospecting, qualifying leads, identifying strategic accounts, conducting client meetings, and connecting customer needs with the organization’s full range of technical and consulting capabilities.
Lead major proposals, quotes, and RFPs from initial opportunity identification through development, coordination, presentation, and delivery, partnering with subject matter experts and internal teams as needed.
Develop and execute creative sales and marketing strategies, including client visits, educational sessions, webinars, presentations, conferences, trade shows, symposiums, and industry events.
Partner with Marketing to develop outreach materials, event strategies, and targeted campaigns that strengthen market visibility and generate new opportunities.
Maintain accurate CRM records covering leads, opportunities, prospects, customer interactions, and pipeline activity, using data and reporting to identify trends and inform leadership decisions.
Develop regional growth strategies informed by market conditions, competitive intelligence, environmental regulations, customer needs, and emerging industry opportunities.
Support master service agreement development, pricing and rate-sheet communication, collection activities, and other commercial processes as required.
Collaborate with technical and operational teams across environmental consulting, remediation, emergency response, resilience and recovery, industrial hygiene, safety, toxicology, risk assessment, and related services to deliver integrated client solutions.
Monitor sales performance against established objectives and margins, while supporting effective budget and expense management for the regional team.
Provide leadership with market intelligence and recommendations designed to improve win probability, strengthen client relationships, and expand the depth and quality of the sales pipeline.
Represent the organization with professionalism at customer meetings and industry events, traveling approximately 50% of the time and remaining responsive to time-sensitive opportunities, including emergency response work.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related discipline is required.
At least 10 years of experience in sales, business development, client relationship management, or related commercial roles, preferably within technical, scientific, environmental, engineering, or professional services.
Strong scientific or technical aptitude, with the ability to understand complex subject matter and translate technical concepts into compelling customer-focused solutions.
Demonstrated success developing strategic accounts, generating new business, managing sales pipelines, and achieving revenue objectives.
Proven sales leadership and coaching abilities, with experience mentoring sales professionals and building collaborative, high-performing teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver persuasive presentations to sophisticated industry audiences.
Strong listening, problem-solving, negotiation, relationship-building, and consultative selling skills.
Strategic and creative mindset with the ability to combine long-term growth planning with hands-on execution in a fast-moving environment.
Strong organizational and time-management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities, customers, communications, and priorities across a large geographic territory.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as CRM platforms such as Salesforce.
Comfortable using a broad range of communication and collaboration tools, including Teams, Slack, LinkedIn, email, phone, and other digital channels.
Strong commercial judgment and experience managing expenses and company resources responsibly.
Comfortable traveling independently for business, including arranging transportation and accommodations, attending customer meetings, and participating in industry events.
Highly responsive and adaptable, with willingness to support urgent opportunities outside standard working hours when business needs require it.
Comfortable engaging socially with clients and industry stakeholders through meetings, networking, entertainment, and relationship-building activities.
Willingness to work occasional extended hours, weekends, or remote/in-person assignments, particularly when responding to natural disasters or emergency-response opportunities.
Benefits:
Compensation: Base salary range of $130,000–$160,000 USD , depending on experience, skills, and geographic location.
