This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Business Development Director based in United States.
This senior leadership role will drive business development and growth across commercial and public-sector markets, with a particular focus on structural strengthening solutions. You will develop and execute strategies that expand existing client relationships while opening new opportunities across North America. The position combines strategic sales leadership with hands-on involvement in complex pursuits, client engagements, and high-value projects. You will work closely with engineering, estimating, construction operations, technical teams, and senior leadership to create solutions tailored to customer needs. The role offers significant influence over sales strategy, account development, project pipelines, and long-term market expansion. Success requires deep industry relationships, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to lead collaboratively in a technically sophisticated environment. Accountabilities:: Develop, implement, and track commercial and public-market business plans designed to expand the structural strengthening business and achieve annual growth objectives.
Build, maintain, and expand relationships with general contractors, engineers, owners, and other key stakeholders across commercial and public-sector markets throughout North America.
Identify new business opportunities, develop account strategies, manage pursuits, and convert qualified opportunities into profitable projects.
Lead and support the sales team in developing strategic accounts, strengthening customer relationships, and opening new markets and opportunities.
Partner with business development colleagues across the region to coordinate account activity, share market intelligence, and maximize cross-selling opportunities.
Follow up on project leads and opportunities generated through marketing activities, client referrals, presentations, conferences, and other business development channels.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM information, including project pipelines, account activity, contacts, pursuits, and opportunities, using platforms such as Salesforce.
Participate in project review calls and provide visibility into the status, potential, and strategic importance of strengthening opportunities.
Collaborate with estimating, construction operations, engineering, technical support, and management teams to develop and sell technically appropriate solutions.
Work with senior leadership to establish business development strategies, priorities, and tactics for expanding strengthening services.
Lead or participate in client meetings, technical presentations, workshops, lunch-and-learns, trade shows, conferences, and other relationship-building activities.
Deliver compelling presentations on products, technologies, engineering capabilities, and construction solutions to prospective and existing customers.
Support the preparation and refinement of proposals, bid packages, and other materials required to pursue strengthening projects.
Attend jobsite walks, pre-bid meetings, and other project-related activities to understand customer requirements and strengthen pursuit strategies.
Lead sales functions on high-value opportunities and help ensure pursuits are aligned with customer needs, technical capabilities, and commercial objectives.
Establish clear goals and expectations, encourage accountability, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the development of a collaborative and high-performing sales culture.
Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, integrity, customer service, and continuous improvement across business development activities.
Requirements:
15+ years of experience building client relationships and expanding business within commercial and/or public-sector markets.
Strong preference for experience selling specialty construction services, products, engineering solutions, or other technically complex offerings to general contractors, engineers, owners, or similar customers.
Demonstrated success in a senior business development, sales leadership, or client services leadership position.
Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales goals or quotas, preferably through disciplined CRM-based pipeline and account management.
Experience managing business development activity and opportunities through a CRM platform, preferably Salesforce.
Demonstrated ability to lead sales functions for high-value, complex projects and manage long-cycle pursuits.
Working knowledge of commercial and public-sector construction projects and the ability to position technology-driven or specialized solutions around customer needs.
Familiarity with structural strengthening, repair, maintenance, infrastructure, or related construction solutions is highly valuable.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred, particularly in business, engineering, construction, or a related discipline.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong strategic thinking, commercial judgment, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities.
Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to establish credibility quickly, gain trust, and maintain productive relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across functions while also working independently and taking ownership of results.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts, pursuits, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
