About this role
Senior Business Analyst
Pharma / Healthcare
Role:Senior Business Analyst
Domain: Pharma / Healthcare Market Access & Payer Coverage
Experience : 5+ years in a Business Analyst capacity
Mandatory Skills:Tableau + SQL • Payer Analytics (Claims + eLAAD + MMIT)
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst with deep, hands-on understanding of lives-oriented formulary data to anchor requirements and delivery on a data-heavy enterprise market-access platform. The ideal candidate has worked directly with syndicated formulary sources such as MMIT Searchlight, fluently navigates payer and patient-access concepts, and can translate complex commercial data into precise, build-ready specifications for engineering and AI teams.
This is a workstream-owning role. You will lead discovery, define business rules across conflicting data sources, author rigorous documentation, and partner closely with brand, market access, field reimbursement, and data engineering teams. Hands-on payor analytics across Claims, eLAAD, and MMIT data, delivered through SQL and Tableau, is essential to connect formulary coverage signals to real-world utilisation.
MUST HAVE
- 5+ years as a Business Analyst in pharma/healthcare, with direct exposure to market access or payer coverage data.
- Tableau (mandatory) hands-on experience designing and building Tableau dashboards and reports for commercial / market access stakeholders.
- SQL (mandatory) strong ability to write complex queries (joins, aggregations, window functions) to profile, validate, and analyse large payer and claims datasets.
- Payor Analytics (mandatory) hands-on experience with Claims, eLAAD, and MMIT data, including linking coverage / formulary positions to claims-based utilisation and patient access outcomes.
- Strong working knowledge of formulary / lives-oriented data specifically MMIT Searchlight (or equivalent syndicated formulary data sources).
- Understands core payer / access concepts: coverage tiers, prior authorisation (PA), step therapy, utilisation management (UM) criteria, lives / covered lives, Rx vs. Mx benefit, and book of business (Commercial / Medicare / Medicaid / HIX).
- Experience writing detailed functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for data-heavy enterprise applications.
- Comfortable reading and reconciling multiple conflicting data sources (e.g., syndicated data vs. field-submitted intelligence) and defining business rules for conflict resolution.
- Experience with data modelling / schema definition (entity relationships, source-to-target mapping) able to work directly with data engineers on table structures.
- Skilled in stakeholder management with brand teams, market access, and field reimbursement (FRM) teams.
- Strong documentation skills BRDs, process flows, data dictionaries, and UAT scripts.
GOOD TO HAVE
- Exposure to additional RWD sources beyond the core payor stack (e.g., IQVIA, Symphony, or similar) and how they complement formulary / syndicated data.
- Exposure to Policy Reporter, FRM / market access submission tools, or similar payer policy tracking platforms.
- Experience working on Databricks-based or Unity Catalog-governed data platforms.
- Prior experience defining requirements for AI / Genie-style natural language query tools or RAG-based search.
- Background in RBAC / permissioning design for sensitive commercial data (pricing, rebates).
- Exposure to agile delivery (sprint planning, backlog grooming) in a multi-workstream program.
SOFT SKILLS
- Excellent communicator able to translate technical constraints to business stakeholders and vice versa.
- Strong facilitation skills for discovery workshops and requirement walkthroughs.
- Detail-oriented with high data quality standards comfortable challenging ambiguous or conflicting inputs.
- Self-directed and comfortable owning a workstream with minimal day-to-day oversight.
- Collaborative across cross-functional teams (engineering, AI / ML, brand, market access, compliance).
- Calm under pressure when reconciling competing stakeholder priorities or tight release timelines.
WHY THIS ROLE
You will own a critical workstream on a flagship market-access data platform, shaping how syndicated formulary intelligence, field-submitted data, and claims signals come together into a single trusted source. If you enjoy working at the intersection of payer-access domain depth, rigorous data definition, and modern AI-enabled delivery, this role offers the scope to make a visible, lasting impact.
