Senior Test Engineer – Payments Testing (API Automation + Payments Domain) We are seeking a highly experienced

Senior Test Engineer with

8+ years of expertise in

Payments Testing, API Automation, and Java-based test frameworks . The candidate will work across complex payment ecosystems, ensuring high-quality delivery, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration across global payment channels.

Key Responsibilities Payments Testing & Investigation

• Investigate and resolve

payment-related issues —failed transactions, missing credits, chargebacks, and reconciliation mismatches.

• Analyze

SWIFT MT/MX message formats , ISO 20022 payment instructions, clearing and settlement flows.

• Coordinate with internal technology teams, business stakeholders, banking partners, and payment intermediaries to resolve payment exceptions.
• Perform and document

root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and propose corrective and preventive action plans.

• Ensure end-to-end compliance with

AML checks, sanctions screening , and regulatory guidelines.

• Support and test

ISO 20022 migration , platform modernization, and integration with new payment gateways or clearing systems.

• Collaborate with developers, QA leads, and BAs to improve payment flows, reduce exceptions, and enhance system reliability.
• Deliver accurate documentation, dashboards, and reports for stakeholders and audits.

API Automation & Technical Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain

API automation frameworks using

Java + Rest Assured .

• Implement automated test suites for REST/SOAP APIs related to payment initiation, validation, authorization, settlement, and reconciliation.
• Build reusable libraries, utilities, and frameworks to support scalable, maintainable automation.
• Integrate automation execution into

CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).

• Validate complex payment scenarios across

RTGS, NEFT, ACH, SWIFT, IMPS, UPI, SEPA , and cross-border payment flows.

• Analyze logs, message queues, and integration points to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
• Ensure API performance metrics (latency, throughput) meet SLAs for high-volume payment processing.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to run automation within containers, cloud test environments, and microservices ecosystems.

Required Skills & Experience Experience

• 8+ years of overall experience in Quality Engineering, Test Automation, and Payments Testing.

Payments Domain Expertise

• Strong understanding of:
• SWIFT MT/MX , ISO 20022
• Clearing and settlement processes
• Cross-border and domestic payment schemes
• Experience with

Trade Finance workflows such as LC, BG, collections, and remittances.

Automation & Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in

Java programming and OOPs concepts.

• Hands-on experience in

Rest Assured, API automation frameworks , and validating JSON/XML payloads.

• Solid knowledge of

SQL , API tools (Postman), and debugging techniques.

• Experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).

Other Skills

• Familiarity with

SWIFT Alliance , payment investigation tools, reconciliation platforms.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with banks, clients, and internal teams.
• Awareness of AML, sanctions screening, FATF guidelines, and banking compliance frameworks.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with:
• Microservices testing
• Kafka / MQ-based asynchronous flows
• Cloud-based testing (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Performance testing tools like JMeter
