What You Will Own:
Instance Configuration & Governance
- Own all shared configuration in our company-managed Jira Cloud instance: custom fields, screens and screen schemes, field configurations, workflows and workflow schemes, work types and hierarchy levels, priorities, resolutions, and permission and notification schemes.
- Apply and enforce the discipline company-managed Jira requires establish whether an object is shared before changing it, and when it is, copy it, scope the copy to the project, and change the copy. Most instance damage comes from skipping this step.
- Own and maintain all the Atlassian sister products like Confluence, Jira Service Desk, and Jira Product Discovery
- Maintain naming conventions that make configuration ownership obvious at a glance, and run a recurring audit that catches projects drifting back onto shared objects.
- Keep the custom-field estate from growing unchecked: reuse before creating, scope through field contexts rather than editing shared ones, and retire fields no longer in use.
- Own project creation and decommissioning, and grant permissions to project roles rather than named individuals so access survives staffing changes.
Workflow, Automation & App Administration
- Translate how teams actually work into workflow, status, and board configuration and propose the lighter alternative when a request is better solved by a convention than by new configuration.
- Publish workflow changes safely, including migrating in-flight work when statuses change, and keep board column mappings in step so nothing lands in an unmapped state.
- Build and maintain Jira Automation rules, scoped correctly so one team's rule does not surface in another team's menus.
- Administer our Marketplace apps including their own scoping settings, and evaluate new apps before they become permanent.
Confluence & Process Documentation
- Own Confluence spaces, permissions, templates, and page hierarchy.
- Partner with engineering leads to get our delivery process written down and kept current: status definitions with owners and exit criteria, work-type guidance, Definition of Ready and Definition of Done, and branch-naming requirements. Company-managed Jira cannot hold per-project helper text, so Confluence is where this lives.
- Write short, durable runbooks for recurring requests, and train team leads to self-serve the routine changes.
Reporting, Data & Integrations
- Protect the conventions our delivery metrics depend on — the estimation field, status names, issue-key format, and what counts as a defect. Breaking one of these produces wrong numbers rather than an error message, so you are the last line of defence.
- Own the data contract behind our delivery-analytics platform (Plandek): which fields and statuses it reads, and what a rename would cost.
- Write JQL that answers non-trivial questions, build filters and dashboards, and run bulk changes safely.
- Use the Jira Cloud REST API for work with no UI path — bulk version creation, field inventories, and pulling issue changelogs for time-in-status and flow metrics. Changelog data cannot be reached through CSV export, so this is a working requirement rather than a bonus.
- Maintain the Jira–Git integration that drives status transitions, along with the Zendesk, Salesforce, and Sentry connectors.
Access, Compliance & Support
- Produce access-review and change-management evidence for SOC 2: who holds admin rights, who holds elevated issue permissions, and what changed when.
- Own Atlassian onboarding and offboarding, licence allocation, and seat cost management.
- Be the first and last stop for “Jira is broken” — diagnosing with the tooling (permission helper, automation audit logs) rather than reasoning from first principles, since most reports resolve to a handful of known causes.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 1, SOC 2 frameworks
What You Bring:
- 5+ years administering Atlassian Cloud, including hands-on ownership of a company-managed (not only team-managed) Jira instance where multiple projects share configuration. This is our most important requirement: team-managed-only experience does not transfer, because the whole difficulty of this role is shared configuration.
- Atlassian Certified Professional (Jira Administration or Jira Service Management).
- ScriptRunner (Groovy), or comparable depth administering Marketplace apps.
- Jira Service Management, Atlassian Guard / Access, or Atlassian Analytics.
- Experience with a delivery-metrics platform (Plandek, LinearB, Jellyfish, Sleuth) and the Jira data hygiene it requires.
- Having led a team-managed to company-managed migration, or a Server / Data Center to Cloud migration.
- Familiarity with SOC 2 or comparable audit evidence collection.
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tooling and how its activity should be represented in Jira.
- Demonstrated ownership of workflows, screen and field configuration schemes, issue type schemes, and permission schemes — you have built them, published them, and migrated existing issues through a status change.
- Jira Automation at a competent level: multi-step rules, smart values, branching, and correct rule scoping.
- Confluence administration: spaces, permissions, and templates.
- Strong JQL, plus filters, dashboards, and safe bulk operations.
- Scripting against the Jira REST API in Python, JavaScript, or equivalent, including token authentication, pagination, and changelog extraction.
- Judgment about blast radius — before changing anything you check what else depends on it, and you can be trusted with an instance twenty teams rely on.
- Willingness to push back: declining the request that would add a field nobody fills in or a status nobody exits, and proposing the lighter alternative.
- Clear written communication, a habit of documenting as you go, and experience working effectively with colleagues across time zones.
Work Environment & Expectations:
- Noida/NCR based
- Demonstrates flexibility to work in required shifts. Regular overlap with US-based engineering leadership, targeting 4 hours daily.
- Compliance with security and remote working policies
Compensation & Growth:
