Senior Application Engineer

As a Senior Application Engineer, you will own and evolve customer-facing web applications and internal tools. You'll work across frontend, backend, data, and AI capabilities while taking ownership of production systems, architecture, performance, and reliability.

A key part of this role is building and integrating AI-powered chatbots and autonomous agents that can interact with Motorq's data and enable users to query, analyse, and act through conversational interfaces.

Responsibilities:

• Build, deliver, and own customer-facing web applications and internal tools.
• Develop frontend applications using React and backend services using Node.js / Express.
• Design scalable systems and create technical design documents for complex features.
• Build and integrate AI-powered chatbots and autonomous AI agents into products.
• Work with LLMs and AI developer tools to accelerate development, debugging, and product delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform RCA, and improve system reliability.
• Optimise application performance, user experience, and maintainability.
• Work with PostgreSQL and, preferably, ClickHouse.
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, debugging, and technical guidance.
• Evaluate and adopt modern web technologies and AI engineering practices.

Requirements:

• 3-4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript, React, Node.js, and Express.
• Experience building and deploying AI chatbots, LLM-powered applications, or AI agents.
• Practical experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into customer-facing products.
• Experience with PostgreSQL; exposure to ClickHouse is a plus.
• Strong understanding of DSA, system design, software design patterns, and engineering fundamentals.
• Experience owning production applications and resolving complex technical issues.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding/development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and ownership skills.
