    Department: Immersive Technologies

    Location: Vapi, Gujarat.

    Reports To: Senior Fullstack Engineer

    Experience: 5–8 Years

    Job Purpose:

The position will work primarily on Java/Kotlin-based Android applications, including dual-module architecture, state-machine-driven surgical workflows, camera and native tracking integration, real-time visualization of biomechanical and navigation data, and enterprise deployment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Android Application Architecture & Development

    • Design, develop, maintain, and refactor production-grade Android applications using Java/Kotlin.

    • Own development across the wearable navigation application's primary modules, including session setup and intraoperative procedure modules.

    • Develop scalable multi-module Android architecture suitable for navigation workflows.

    • Implement reusable UI components, application services, data models, and integration interfaces.

    • Maintain clean separation between UI, workflow/state management, hardware integration, data processing, and configuration layers.

    • Manage Android dependencies, Gradle configuration, build variants, signing, packaging, and release configurations.

    • Ensure compatibility with target wearable and hardware platforms.

    • Develop applications suitable for constrained, kiosk-style, or enterprise-managed wearable environments.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor's / Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Software Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.

    • 5–8 years of professional Android software development experience with production releases.

    • Strong professional experience in Android development using Java/Kotlin.

    • Proven experience developing complex multi-screen, workflow-driven Android applications.

    • Strong experience with multi-module Android architecture.

    • Strong knowledge of Android lifecycle, threading, memory management, and application performance.

    • Hands-on experience with Camera2 API.

    • Hands-on experience consuming JNI/native libraries within Android applications.

    • Experience debugging native crashes and Android application integration issues.

    • Experience deploying applications to physical Android devices and hardware.

    • Experience with Gradle, Git, profiling, and Android Studio.

    • Experience working with hardware- or sensor-driven applications is preferred.

    • Experience mentoring junior Android engineers is preferred.

    • Experience in medical devices, navigation, robotics, computer vision, AR/VR/XR, or high-availability software will be an added advantage.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin.

    • Strong knowledge of Android application architecture and multi-module design.

    • Strong proficiency in Android Studio and Gradle.

    • Strong understanding of Android lifecycle and component management.

    • Strong knowledge of Camera2 API and camera lifecycle management.

    • Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, synchronization, and background processing.

    • Strong understanding of memory management and performance optimization on constrained devices.

    • Good knowledge of JNI/NDK and native library integration.

    • Experience debugging native crashes, ANRs, memory leaks, and application freezes.

    • Experience with Git and structured branching/release practices.

    • Experience with Android profiling and performance analysis tools.

    • Understanding of real-time data processing and UI update patterns.

    • Experience with sensor-driven or hardware-key-based user interfaces.

    • Experience with OpenCV Android integration is preferred.

    • Experience with OpenGL or AR overlay rendering is preferred.

    • Understanding of kiosk, home-launcher, device-owner, or enterprise-managed Android deployment patterns is preferred.

    • Strong attention to application stability, reliability, performance, and usability.

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

    • Ability to work effectively with software, hardware, computer vision, algorithms, QA, systems, and clinical teams.

    • Ability to work with physical devices and laboratory navigation systems rather than emulator-only environments.

    • Passion for Android engineering, wearable computing, surgical robotics, immersive technologies, and healthcare innovation.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

    • Timely delivery of assigned Android features and technical milestones.

    • Successful implementation of session setup and intraoperative procedure modules.

    • Reliability of state-machine-driven surgical workflows.

    • Successful integration of camera, tracking, biomechanical, and navigation data.

    • Application stability during real-time navigation data updates.

    • Successful management of Camera2 lifecycle and native/JNI integrations.

    • Application performance and memory efficiency on constrained wearable hardware.

    • Quality and completeness of defect reports and supporting evidence.
