Senior Accounts Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Finance Leadership

• Oversee end-to-end accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Ensure accuracy of books of accounts, reconciliations, and timely closing of monthly/quarterly/annual accounts.
• Guide and mentor the accounts team on accounting standards, policies, and best practices.
• Coordinate with auditors for statutory audit, internal audit, and management reporting.

2. Direct & Indirect Taxation

• Own all Income Tax matters: advance tax planning, TDS compliance, return filings, assessments, scrutiny, and appeals.
• Lead GST compliance: registration, returns (GSTR-1/3B/9), reconciliations, input credit optimization, and audits.
• Handle notices, queries, and proceedings from Income Tax and GST authorities; prepare submissions and represent the company before authorities.
• Ensure compliance with other applicable taxes (e.g., Property Tax, Stamp Duty, TCS, etc., as relevant).

3. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with company law, labour laws, and other regulatory requirements applicable to the business.
• Oversee statutory filings, returns, and documentation with relevant authorities.
• Implement and monitor internal compliance checklists, SOPs, and risk controls.

4. Legal & Litigation Management (Accounts-Related)

• Handle accounting and financial legal cases, including disputes with vendors, customers, banks, and regulatory bodies.
• Manage litigation and quasi-judicial proceedings related to tax, finance, and commercial matters (e.g., before CIT(A), ITAT, GST Appellate Tribunal, consumer forums, civil courts, etc.).
• Coordinate with external advocates/counsels; prepare briefs, evidence, and financial data for cases.
• Draft, review, and vet financial and commercial agreements from an accounts and compliance perspective.

5. Strategy & Advisory

• Advise management on financial, taxation, and legal risks and opportunities.
• Support in structuring transactions, contracts, and arrangements from a tax and compliance standpoint.
• Contribute to policy-making, process improvements, and system implementations (ERP, compliance tools, etc.).

Desired Candidate Profile:

• Experience: 20-25 years in Accounts, Taxation, Compliance, and Legal with a strong finance & accounting background.
• Qualification:
  
• Non-CA profile: B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / LL.B / ICWA (Inter or Final) or equivalent.
• Additional certifications in Direct/Indirect Tax, GST, or Corporate Law will be an advantage.

• Domain Knowledge:
  
• In-depth knowledge of Income Tax Act, GST laws, and related rules and procedures.
• Strong understanding of accounting standards, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Proven experience in handling legal cases/litigations related to accounts, taxation, and commercial matters.

• Skills:
  
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to interact confidently with tax authorities, legal forums, auditors, and senior management.
• Strong team management and leadership capabilities.
• Preferred Industries: Real Estate, Construction, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, or other asset-heavy sectors with complex compliance and litigation exposure.
