Senior Accountant

Job Summary

You will support accounting operations across a portfolio of clients, with a strong focus on hands-on transactional accounting and high-volume processing. This role is suited to an individual who is comfortable working in detail, including transaction coding, reconciliations, and managing day-to-day accounting activities.

You will contribute to the preparation of accurate financial reports, support complex reconciliations, and ensure regulatory compliance, while gradually taking on increased responsibility for client oversight. This role requires strong core accounting fundamentals, the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, and a willingness to grow into a managerial role within a relatively short timeframe.

Key Responsibilities

Transactional Accounting & Processing

• Perform and review high-volume transaction coding, ensuring accuracy and proper classification
• Prepare and manage bank and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple clients
• Support day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring timely processing of financial data

Financial Reporting & Close

• Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and working papers
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with company policies and client requirements
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data

Construction, Real Estate Accounting & NGO (Critical Focus Area)

• Manage and support accounting processes specific to construction and real estate clients, Not for profit including:
• Progress / AIA billing
• Percentage-of-completion accounting
• Job costing and cost tracking
• Schedules of values and draw requests
• Retainage tracking
• Revenue recognition for long-term contracts

Account Reconciliation

• Perform detailed reconciliations and investigate variances
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records across multiple client accounts

Revenue Recognition & Compliance

• Support accurate revenue recognition in line with contractual terms and accounting standards
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, tax requirements, and internal policies

Skills & Experience Required

• 4-5 years of accounting experience
• Strong hands-on experience in transactional accounting, including reconciliations and journal processing
• Experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments
• Construction or real estate accounting experience
• Experience with Sage Intacct or other Sage systems
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Ability to take ownership of work and operate independently while collaborating within a team
