Security Lead — WAAP & API Protection (Akamai)

Location- Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) Mode- Hybrid

Preferred Industry- Insurance Mandatory - Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) We're looking for a Security Lead to drive a new global product protecting our enterprise environment, with a focus on Web Application and API Protection (WAAP). This is a hands-on technical and migration role. You'll be the expert who reviews, validates, and challenges our security solution, and who runs the actual rollout across business entities worldwide.

What you'll do:

• Bring deep technical expertise in WAAP & API protection, specifically on Akamai
• Work across cloud environments (Azure / AWS)
• Review, validate, and challenge the existing security solution
• Own the onboarding roadmap for each entity
• Review, validate, and improve security policies across DDoS L7, WAF, Bot, and API protection
• Raise and manage service requests or incident tickets with the vendor/provider
• Document and report on incidents related to DDoS and the WAAP migration program
• Run meetings with entities globally to support onboarding
• Analyze logs and security data
• Build KPIs and security dashboards
• Collaborate closely with Cyber Defense and Architecture teams on security requests and issues

• Proof of concept / pilot results
• Project management documentation (planning, reporting, logs, action/issue tracking, budget actuals vs. forecast)

What you bring:

• Strong hands-on experience with WAAP solutions
• WAF security mechanisms, on-premise and cloud
• Proven experience working with Akamai solutions
• Comfortable working in a fully English-speaking environment
