Section Engineer E&I Pyro - Belgaum

Role & responsibilities

1. Operation & Maintenance
   • Ensure smooth functioning of instrumentation and control systems in Kiln, Coal Mill, AFR, and common utility areas.
   • Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for field instruments and automation systems.
   • Attend instrumentation faults promptly to minimize downtime and process interruptions.
   • Ensure proper functioning of process control loops, interlocks, alarms, and protection systems.
2. Instrumentation & Automation Maintenance
   • Maintain and calibrate field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters, gas analyzers, weigh feeders, and vibration monitoring systems.
   • Ensure proper functioning of PLC, DCS, SCADA, communication systems, and field control devices.
   • Troubleshoot faults in sensors, actuators, control valves, analyzers, and automation systems.
   • Monitor and maintain instrument air systems and control valve performance.
3. Process Monitoring & Optimization
   • Monitor critical process parameters for Kiln, Coal Mill, AFR systems, and common utilities to ensure stable operation.
   • Support process optimization and automation improvement initiatives.
   • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for process disturbances and instrumentation failures.
   • Ensure calibration accuracy and reliability of process instruments and analyzers.
4. Safety & Compliance
   • Ensure compliance with instrumentation safety standards, SOPs, and statutory regulations.
   • Implement Permit to Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
   • Ensure safe maintenance practices in hazardous areas such as Coal Mill and AFR sections.
   • Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with safety protocols by employees and contractors.
5. Shutdown & Maintenance Planning
   • Plan and execute shutdown and preventive maintenance activities within targeted timelines.
   • Maintain instrument calibration records, maintenance history, and breakdown analysis reports.
   • Ensure availability of critical instrumentation spares and consumables.
   • Coordinate with production, electrical, and mechanical departments during maintenance and shutdown activities.
6. Team Supervision
   • Supervise instrument technicians and contract manpower.
   • Allocate work activities and monitor execution quality and safety compliance.
   • Provide technical guidance and training to instrumentation personnel.

Required Skills:
• Knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, gas analyzers, weigh feeders, control valves, and process instrumentation.
• Familiarity with kiln process control systems and hazardous area instrumentation.
• Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with SAP / CMMS systems preferred.
• Good troubleshooting, communication, and team management skills.
