Academic Support:

• Ensure the students develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, exposure to diversity of genres and using resources available to solve problems.
• Empower them to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information
• Serve as a teacher, materials expert, and curriculum adviser to ensure that library is involved in instructional programs of the school.
• Create and maintain a teaching- learning environment that is welcoming, safe, flexible, and conducive to student learning in the school library
• Should develop and maintain a collection of resources that is appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the teaching styles and instructional strategies used within the school.
• Establish processes and procedures for selection, acquisition, circulation, and resource sharing
• Ensure the library management system is maintained and supporting its use by student
• Should effectively plan school library program to meet identified needs
• Ensure that the school library program (SLP) is aligned with the mission, goals and objectives of the school and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program
• Must be updated with professional practices and developments, information technologies and educational research applicable to school library programs
