Role Overview

The SAP Project Manager is responsible for end-to-end management and governance of SAP implementation, rollout, and enhancement projects. The role carries accountability for scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk management, ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed objectives and delivery standards.

This role requires a structured delivery professional who can effectively engage client stakeholders, coordinate cross-functional SAP teams, and drive disciplined execution using established project management methodologies.

Project Delivery & Execution

• Lead end-to-end delivery of SAP ECC and S/4HANA projects, including implementations, rollouts, enhancements, and AMS transition engagements.
• Own integrated project planning across functional, technical, data, testing, cutover, and go-live activities.
• Track and manage project milestones, deliverables, risks, issues, and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure adherence to agreed scope, timelines, budget, and quality commitments.
• Drive timely issue resolution and escalation in line with defined governance and escalation frameworks.

Delivery Governance, Controls & Assurance

• Apply SAP Activate, ASAP, Agile, or Hybrid delivery methodologies as appropriate to the engagement.
• Establish and maintain project plans, status reports, risk and issue logs, and steering committee materials.
• Conduct regular project reviews to ensure delivery health, risk visibility, and alignment with objectives.
• Ensure compliance with defined delivery standards, review checkpoints, and acceptance criteria.

Financial & Resource Management

• Monitor and control project financials including budgets, forecasts, risks, and resource utilization.
• Prepare periodic delivery and financial status reports for internal leadership and client stakeholders.
• Support effort estimation, planning, and assessment of change requests.
• Ensure effective allocation and utilization of project resources across delivery phases.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for project-level stakeholders, engaging from senior management to operational teams.
• Facilitate regular project status meetings, reviews, and steering discussions.
• Manage stakeholder expectations, scope changes, and priorities in alignment with contractual commitments.
• Maintain a strong customer-focused approach built on transparency, collaboration, and delivery confidence.

Team Leadership & Enablement

• Coordinate and lead cross-functional SAP teams, including functional consultants, technical teams, and external partners.
• Provide guidance to project teams on delivery practices, tools, and reporting standards.
• Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the delivery team.

Reporting, Tools & Delivery Insights

• Drive structured project planning and reporting using tools such as MS Project and MS Office.
• Leverage dashboards and reporting mechanisms (including Power BI where applicable) to provide delivery insights.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of project reporting across stakeholders.

Key Skills & Experience

• Up to 8 years of overall experience, with at least 4-5 years in SAP Project Management roles.
• Proven experience managing ERP SAP-based project engagements.
• Strong understanding of SAP ECC or S/4HANA delivery lifecycles.
• Working knowledge of core SAP modules such as FICO, MM, SD, PP, or related logistics areas.
• Hands-on experience with project management tools such as MS Project and MS Office; exposure to Power BI is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management capabilities.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Certifications

Must Have:

• PMP / PRINCE2 Practitioner / SAFe or equivalent project management certification

Good to Have:

• SAP Activate Project Manager certification
• Agile or ITIL certifications

Compensation & Employment Details

• Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
• Location: India, Pune
• Compensation Range: INR 15 Lakhs per annum (including variable component)
