SAP Functional Lead

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the functional design, configuration, implementation, and support of SAP solutions within the assigned functional area.
• Own functional workstreams throughout the SAP implementation, enhancement, migration, and support lifecycle.
• Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable SAP functional solutions.
• Configure SAP modules and ensure solutions align with business processes and SAP best practices.
• Prepare functional specifications and work closely with technical teams on custom developments, integrations, and enhancements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional SAP teams to ensure seamless integration between modules.
• Lead functional testing including unit, integration, regression, UAT, and defect resolution.
• Support data migration, cutover planning, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Identify opportunities for business-process optimization, automation, and SAP standardization.
• Conduct gap analysis and recommend solutions for business requirements that are not covered by standard SAP functionality.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, SAP architects, developers, QA teams, and project managers.
• Provide functional estimates, effort assessments, project updates, and risk/issue reporting.
• Lead workshops, process walkthroughs, user training, and knowledge-transfer sessions.
• Support SAP S/4HANA transformation, upgrades, rollouts, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Mentor junior SAP consultants and provide functional guidance and quality reviews.
• Ensure SAP solutions comply with security, governance, documentation, and organizational standards.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5 to 10 years of SAP functional experience, with strong expertise in at least one core SAP module such as FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, HCM, or SuccessFactors.
• Proven experience in SAP implementation, configuration, enhancements, support, upgrades, migration, and rollout projects.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and/or SAP ECC and relevant business processes.
• Ability to independently lead functional workstreams and translate complex business requirements into SAP solutions.
• Strong experience in requirements gathering, fit-gap analysis, functional design, configuration, testing, and defect management.
• Good understanding of integration between SAP modules and external systems.
• Experience with SAP Fiori, SAP Activate, SAP Cloud solutions, and S/4HANA transformation is preferred.
• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to interact with business users, technical teams, and senior management.
• Experience leading workshops, UAT, user training, cutover, and go-live activities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and business-process optimization skills.
• Experience mentoring junior consultants and coordinating small-to-medium functional teams.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Relevant SAP S/4HANA/module certification is strongly preferred.
• SAP Activate, PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum certification is an advantage.
• Experience with large enterprise or multinational SAP environments is highly desirable.
