SAP Developer

Purpose of the role

The SAP Developer is responsible for the technical analysis, development, documentation, testing and support of the implementation of the SAP P2P optimisations within the project. The Developer translates the functional designs into robust and maintainable technical solutions within SAP ECC and works closely with the SAP Consultants and the internal IT teams to achieve this.

Key Responsibilities

• Analysing functional designs and translating them into technical solutions.
  

• Developing and customising SAP functionalities in ABAP.
  

• Developing enhancements, custom fields and associated validations.
  

• Implementing authorisation checks within the developed solutions.
  

• Developing and maintaining custom tables and associated maintenance functionalities.
  

• Extending existing SAP reporting with additional fields and data.
  

• Ensuring correct change logging and traceability of changes.
  

• Preparing and maintaining technical documentation.
  

• Carrying out and documenting unit testing.
  

• Supporting functional consultants and key users during system and acceptance testing.
  

• Supporting transports, deployment and technical troubleshooting.
  

• Identifying technical risks, dependencies and opportunities for optimisation within the project.
  

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of SAP ABAP and ABAP Objects.
  

• Good technical knowledge of SAP ECC.
  

• Experience with developments within SAP MM, preferably within Procure-to-Pay processes.
  

• Experience with SAP enhancement techniques such as BAdIs, customer includes and custom fields.
  

• Experience with custom tables, table maintenance and authorisation checks.
  

• Experience in extending standard SAP transactions and reports.
  

• Knowledge of SAP Purchase Order functionalities and associated technical objects.
  

• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  

Desired level of experience

• At least 5 years relevant experience as an SAP Developer.
  

• Demonstrable experience with ABAP development within SAP MM and/or P2P processes.
  

• Experience with technical implementations within SAP ECC.
  

• Experience in a regulated or complex organisational environment is an asset.
