Salesforce DevOps Engineer

Role: Salesforce DevOps Engineer

Experience: 4+ years overall (3+ years in Salesforce DevOps or release engineering)

Remote

Working Hours: Regular business hours

We are seeking a hands-on Salesforce DevOps Engineer to own how code and configuration move seamlessly from development environments to production

In this role, you will build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, execute production deployments (often during late-evening release windows), manage user access across lower environments, and automate repetitive tasks using Python, shell scripts, and Docker

You will partner closely with developers, QA engineers, release managers, and architects to make release cycles faster, safer, and more predictable

Skill Expectations CI/CD Pipelines (Expert): Build and maintain GitLab CI (or Jenkins, GitHub Actions) pipelines tailored for Salesforce, including pull-request validations, delta deployments, test execution, quality gates, and rollback strategies

Salesforce Deployments (Expert): Deep command of Salesforce CLI (sf/sfdx), Metadata API, destructive changes, deployment troubleshooting, org comparison/diffing, and release planning

Source Control (Expert): Advanced Git branching strategies, merge request workflows, conflict resolution, and multi-environment branch management

Scripting (Strong): Proficient in writing Python and Bash scripts to automate deployments, data seeding, org health checks, and operational reporting

Docker (Strong): Build, version, and maintain custom Docker images used as pipeline runners and build environment tools

Access Management (Strong): Manage users, profiles, permission sets, roles, and sandbox refresh activities across non-production environments

Pipeline Automation: Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce, integrating automated testing, static code analysis, and release quality gates

Release Execution: Plan and execute production deployments during scheduled windows (including late evenings), leading post-deployment sanity checks and hypercare support

Troubleshooting RCA: Quickly diagnose failed deployments or broken pipelines, resolve root causes, and document prevention measures

Environment User Administration: Manage user provisioning, profile/permission set assignments, and sandbox refresh/seeding cycles across lower environments

Operational Scripting: Write and extend Python and shell scripts to automate repetitive environment setup, validation, and release tasks

Container Management: Create and maintain secure, up-to-date Docker images for CI/CD runners and developer tooling

Process Documentation: Maintain accurate release runbooks, deployment logs, and environment inventories while continually refining release operations

Must-Have

4+ years in DevOps or release engineering, including 3+ years specifically supporting Salesforce platform deployments

Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines from scratch (not merely executing existing pipelines)

Strong working knowledge of Salesforce CLI, Metadata API, and Git-based deployment workflows across multi-sandbox topologies

Demonstrated capability writing operational automation scripts in Python or Shell (Bash)

Experience building Docker images and embedding them into pipeline runners

Solid experience managing user access, profiles, and permission sets in Salesforce orgs

Explicit willingness to support production releases during late-evening windows on scheduled release days

Good-to-Have

Salesforce Certifications: Platform Administrator, Platform App Builder, or DevOps-related credentials

Hands-on experience with sfdx-git-delta, PMD, Salesforce Code Analyzer, SonarQube, or commercial release tools like Copado or Gearset

Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS), container orchestration (Kubernetes), or Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

Experience using AI coding tools to accelerate scripting, automation, and root-cause analysis
