Sales Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Conduct regular field visits to factories, OEMs and industrial customers across Chennai and surrounding industrial areas.
• Generate new business through direct visits, references, enquiries and systematic prospecting.
• Manage and grow relationships with existing Mcvan customers.
• Understand customer applications, technical challenges and purchasing requirements.
• Recommend appropriate pneumatic, automation, NDT, industrial marking and traceability solutions from SMC, Magnaflux, Bradma and other McVan's product lines.
• Coordinate with product specialists, suppliers and internal teams to prepare technical and commercial proposals.
• Prepare quotations and follow up on enquiries, offers, orders, deliveries and payments.
• Convert qualified enquiries into orders and work toward agreed sales and customer-development targets.
• Arrange product demonstrations, trials, installation or service support when required.
• Maintain accurate records of customer visits, quotations, opportunities and follow-up activities.
• Report competitor activity, market developments and potential new applications.
• Suitable experienced candidates may also support industrial automation projects and integrated engineering solutions.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma or BE/BTech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Automobile Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in industrial, technical or B2B field sales is preferred.
• Fresh diploma and engineering graduates with strong communication skills, technical aptitude and an interest in field sales may also apply.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, industrial automation, NDT, marking systems or manufacturing equipment will be an advantage.
• Experience with SMC or similar pneumatic products is desirable.
• Exposure to PLCs, sensors, control panels, robotics, motion systems or automation projects is an added advantage.
• Confident in meeting engineers, maintenance teams, purchase departments and senior management.
• Able to understand technical applications and communicate suitable solutions clearly.
• Self-motivated, organised, target-oriented and comfortable working independently in the field.
• Working proficiency in Tamil and English.
• Basic computer skills for quotations, reports, emails and customer records.
• Must own a two-wheeler and hold a valid driving licence.
• Must be willing to travel regularly across Chennai and nearby industrial areas.
