About this role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sales Director, Pharma Delivery Systems based in United States.
This is a senior commercial leadership opportunity focused on growing pharmaceutical and healthcare manufacturing partnerships across the U.S. and international markets. You will lead complex, consultative sales engagements with pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device organizations. The role combines executive relationship building, strategic business development, technical solution positioning, and commercial leadership. You will help customers access integrated CDMO and drug delivery capabilities spanning development through commercial launch. Success will require close collaboration with operations, quality, engineering, finance, legal, and supply chain teams to create differentiated solutions. You will own a strategic pipeline, drive new business and account expansion, and maintain strong financial discipline across major pursuits. With significant customer interaction and approximately 50% travel, this role is suited to an experienced healthcare sales leader who thrives in complex, high-value environments.
Accountabilities:: Define and execute a sales strategy aligned with pharmaceutical solutions, CDMO capabilities, drug delivery device manufacturing, and packaging growth objectives.
Identify, qualify, and secure new customers and strategic opportunities across pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device markets, including injectables, combination products, and oral solid dose manufacturing.
Build trusted relationships with executive-level customer stakeholders and serve as the primary commercial interface throughout the sales and partnership lifecycle.
Lead consultative, value-based sales engagements from prospecting and qualification through solution development, negotiation, contracting, and deal closure.
Partner with senior leadership to identify priority accounts, develop pursuit strategies, shape customer requirements, and maximize opportunities for new business.
Maintain ownership of customer satisfaction, long-term engagement, program success, and strategic account expansion.
Build and manage a disciplined Salesforce pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting, strong opportunity qualification, and alignment with annual bookings and revenue objectives.
Prepare revenue, bookings, expense, and pipeline forecasts while maintaining financial rigor around profitability, capital efficiency, and return on net assets.
Lead customer and product penetration strategies in collaboration with business unit, engineering, technology, operations, quality, and supply chain teams.
Position integrated capabilities including drug formulation development, primary container and device integration, device design and development, aseptic fill and finish, oral solid dose manufacturing, device molding and assembly, and primary and secondary packaging.
Translate customer requirements into scalable manufacturing solutions and coordinate cross-functional teams to develop compelling technical and commercial proposals.
Lead RFQs, commercial proposals, executive presentations, pricing discussions, negotiations, and contract development for new customers and programs.
Provide regular updates to senior leadership regarding sales strategy, pipeline health, customer engagement, opportunity progress, and commercial performance.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field required; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
At least 10 years of sales experience in healthcare contract manufacturing and/or CDMO services within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device markets.
Established executive-level relationships within pharmaceutical, biotech, and/or medical device organizations.
Demonstrated success selling complex manufacturing and development services, particularly aseptic manufacturing, fill/finish, oral solid dose, analytical, stability, and packaging solutions.
Proven ability to develop and sell integrated, lifecycle-focused CDMO solutions from early-stage development through commercial-scale manufacturing.
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and healthcare manufacturing environments, customer decision-making processes, and complex enterprise sales cycles.
Demonstrated ability to lead consultative sales processes involving multiple technical, operational, financial, and executive stakeholders.
Strong commercial judgment, negotiation capabilities, forecasting discipline, and understanding of profitability and financial performance.
Excellent executive communication, presentation, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, Engineering, Technology, Supply Chain, Finance, and Legal.
Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% domestically, with occasional international travel for customer meetings, business development, negotiations, executive engagement, and facility visits.
