Safety Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Implement and monitor workplace health and safety policies and procedures across the manufacturing facility.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable statutory regulations, factory safety requirements, and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.
• Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
• Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor permit-to-work systems for hot work, work at height, confined space entry, and other high-risk activities.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills, evacuation drills, and emergency response training.
• Maintain safety documentation, inspection reports, incident records, and statutory compliance registers.
• Monitor fire protection systems, emergency exits, firefighting equipment, and first-aid facilities.
• Coordinate with department heads to implement corrective actions and improve workplace safety.
• Support internal and external safety audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
• Promote 5S, housekeeping, and safe material-handling practices across the plant.
