Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and administer effective occupational health, safety, environment (including Sustainability) programs and maintain the related policy and procedures in accordance with Group Safety Policy and IMS requirements.
• Advise and assist the company in the fulfillment of its obligations, statutory and prevention of personal injuries and maintaining safe working environment
• Carry out safety inspections/ observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices followed by the employees and to render advice on measures to be adopted for reducing the unsafe conditions and preventing unsafe practices
• Working closely with all the department in changing the safety culture of the organization with effective implementation of Behavioral Based Safety (BBS)
• To conduct periodical reviews on the risk assessment (Hazop) for all operations, equipments and conduct risk assessments for which it has not been done earlier
• Prepare and maintain data with respect to incidents, audit findings, safety observations, safety training etc.
• Carry out incident investigation to find out root causes and suggest remedial measures
• Maintain, review and report safety performance, identifying opportunities for improvement along with implementing preventative and corrective actions as required
• To Assist in the Statutory Compliance of the applicable laws & regulations related to Health, Safety & Environment (Specifically in Factories Act, Environment Laws, Requirements of Pollution Control Boards, PESO Regulations, Gas Cylinder Rules)
• To conduct Fire Safety Audits, Mock Drills, Fire Drills at frequent intervals.
• Liaising with Government Authorities like Joint Director of Health & Safety, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, Fire Department etc
• Promote, create and maintain employees- interest in safety.
• Should have experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Advise the Management towards purchase of safety equipments with proper standards
• Design and conduct safety training either independently or in collaboration with others for the employees at all levels.

Functional Competencies:

• The Candidate must have completed ME (Industrial Safety Engineering) OR Diploma in Industrial Safety and have minimum 2 years of work experience. The work experience must be preferably in an Engineering Industry.
• Exposure on Behaviour Based Safety and hands on experience in changing the safety culture of the Company so as increase the safe behaviour of the Safety
• Hands on experience on Accident Investigation and Report Preparation
• Knowledge on Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, HAZOP, Job Safety Analysis
• Knowledge on Fire Protection System, Fire Safety Standards (National Building Code, HAZCHEM code), Fire Safety Audits, flammable chemicals & extinguishing methods
• Knowledge on Legal Requirements related to HSE (Factories Act/ Rules, PCB, Air & Water Act, Environmental Protection Act)
• Knowledge on Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, Environmental Sustainability
• Knowledge of STP & ETP hazardous waste generation and storage methods
• E- Waste management and Hazardous waste management
• Plant traffic and vehicle mobility risk assessment
