Safety & Compliance Officer EHS

Role & responsibilities

• Implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures, SOPs and safety standards across the plant.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, workplace audits and risk assessments.
• Identify hazards and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act, Rules, OSH requirements, environmental and other statutory regulations.
• Monitor Permit to Work (PTW) systems, including hot work, work at height, confined space, electrical work and other hazardous activities.
• Conduct Toolbox Talks, safety training, induction programs and awareness sessions for employees, contractors and visitors.
• Monitor contractor safety and ensure compliance with plant EHS requirements.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near-miss cases and prepare reports with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain EHS records, registers, inspection reports and statutory documentation.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including mock drills, fire safety and emergency response.
• Monitor PPE compliance and ensure availability and proper use of required PPE.
• Coordinate with departments for implementation of safety recommendations and closure of audit observations.
• Support ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 implementation, internal audits and external audits.
• Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, pollution control, hazardous waste and environmental compliance.
• Coordinate with government authorities, safety consultants and statutory agencies whenever required.
• Promote 5S, safety culture and continuous improvement across the plant

Preferred candidate profile

Candidates with hands-on experience in industrial safety, statutory compliance, risk assessment, contractor safety, PTW systems, incident investigation and EHS audits will be preferred. Experience in a ferro alloys, steel or heavy manufacturing plant will be an added advantage.
