The role will involve monitoring trading activity, identifying potential risk exposures, investigating exceptions, and ensuring timely escalation of risk-related issues.
The successful candidate will work closely with the existing Risk team in Sofia to maintain continuity of risk operations outside the core team's regular working hours.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Risk Operations
Monitor trading activity, client exposures, positions, and relevant risk parameters during the assigned shift.
Support daily risk control processes and ensure adherence to established risk limits and internal procedures.
Identify unusual trading patterns, abnormal exposures, limit breaches, and potential operational risks.
Investigate alerts and exceptions, document findings, and escalate material concerns to the appropriate stakeholders.
Assist with monitoring margin utilisation, position concentration, and other relevant risk indicators, as applicable.
2. Trade and Exposure Monitoring
Monitor open positions, profit and loss movements, and exposure levels using internal risk systems and trading platforms.
Identify discrepancies or unusual movements that require further investigation.
Support the review of client and account-level risk exposures in accordance with established procedures.
Maintain accurate records of risk events, investigations, and actions taken.
3. Risk Reporting and Documentation
Prepare and maintain shift reports, exception logs, and handover notes for the global Risk team.
Ensure that material risk incidents and unresolved issues are communicated clearly to the relevant team members.
Assist in compiling periodic risk reports and operational summaries.
Maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
4. Cross-Team Coordination
Coordinate with the Risk, Trading, Operations, and Technology teams to investigate and resolve risk-related issues.
Ensure a structured handover of ongoing cases, critical exposures, and pending actions.
Participate in training and transition activities with the Sofia team, including overlapping working hours where required.
Follow established escalation protocols and support continuous improvement in risk operations.
5. Process Improvement
Identify recurring operational issues and recommend improvements to risk monitoring processes.
Support the implementation and testing of risk controls, monitoring tools, and reporting processes.
Assist with maintaining standard operating procedures and risk operations documentation.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Approximately 25 years of experience in risk operations, brokerage operations, trading support, market risk monitoring, or a related financial services role.
Working knowledge of financial markets, trading instruments, trading operations, and position monitoring.
Familiarity with profit and loss calculations, margin concepts, exposure monitoring, and risk limits.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to investigate discrepancies.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; familiarity with SQL, Python, or risk reporting tools would be an advantage.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to equities, futures, options, CFDs, or other derivative instruments.
Experience working with brokerage platforms, order management systems, or risk monitoring systems.
Familiarity with trading-related risk controls and incident escalation procedures.
Working Hours
This position requires an overnight shift in India aligned with the US after-hours session, beginning around 4:00 PM Eastern Time (New York). During the initial training and transition period, working hours may be adjusted to provide sufficient overlap with the core Risk team in Sofia.
