Retail Cashier

1. Day-to-Day Accounting Operations

Youll handle routine accounting entries such as:

• Sales and purchase entries
• Cash and bank transactions
• Journal entries and ledger maintenance
• Petty cash management

2. Accounts Receivable (AR) – Collections Focus

FMCG businesses rely heavily on distributors and retailers, so:

• Track outstanding payments from distributors/clients
• Follow up for collections and ensure timely payments
• Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing issues
• Monitor credit limits and overdue balances

3. Accounts Payable (AP) – Vendor Management

• Process vendor invoices and verify with purchase orders
• Ensure timely payments to suppliers
• Maintain vendor ledgers and resolve discrepancies
• Handle debit/credit notes

4. GST & Tax Compliance (India-specific)

• Prepare and file GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B)
• Reconcile input/output GST
• Ensure proper documentation for tax compliance
• Assist in audits and tax assessments

5. Bank Reconciliation

• Perform regular bank reconciliation statements (BRS)
• Identify and resolve mismatches between bank and books

6. Inventory & Cost Tracking

FMCG companies deal with high inventory turnover:

• Coordinate with warehouse teams for stock valuation
• Track inventory movements and discrepancies
• Assist in stock audits and physical verification

7. MIS Reporting

• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports (sales, expenses, collections)
• Provide insights on outstanding receivables and cash flow
• Support management with financial data for decision-making

8. Expense Monitoring & Control

• Verify employee reimbursements
• Track operational expenses and ensure budget adherence
• Flag unusual or excessive spending

9. Audit Support

• Assist internal and external auditors
• Maintain proper documentation and records
• Ensure compliance with company policies

10. ERP/Accounting Software Handling

You’ll typically work on tools like:

• Tally ERP
• SAP ERP
• Oracle ERP
