Testing & Commissioning Engineer / Protection Engineer Reports to: Technical Lead - Testing & Commissioning
Expertise Required: Hands-on experience in testing and commissioning of protection relays, including Transformer Differential, Distance, Busbar, Line Differential, Feeder, Generator, and Motor Protection schemes. Experience in IEC 61850, SCADA & Substation Automation would be added advantage.

About Opportunity: Phase Power Protection Pvt Ltd, India, which is a fully owned subsidiary of ERLPhase Power Technologies Ltd, Canada, seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for the position of Testing & Commissiong Engineer. Responsibilities: · Perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation of Protection Relays, Disturbance Fault Recorders (DFR), and Substation Automation Systems. · Familiar with using Omicron/ Doble test kit to conduct relay testing. · Be Familiar with protection schemes employed in high voltage substations. · Test and commission Transformer Differential, Busbar Differential, Distance, Line Differential, Generator, Motor, and Feeder Protection schemes. · Verify CT/PT circuits, protection settings, wiring, annunciations, SCADA integration, and communication systems. · Perform IEC 61850 testing, including GOOSE, MMS, and network communication validation. · Conduct FAT, SAT, and site commissioning activities. · Prepare test reports, commissioning reports, and project documentation. · Coordinate with utilities, EPC contractors, consultants, and project teams during testing and commissioning activities. · Develop and execute test plans and validation procedures for protection relays and recording products. · Validate product functionality, performance, reliability, and compliance with IEC, IEEE, and utility standards. · Conduct system-level testing involving relays, DFRs, communication protocols, and SCADA systems. · Perform root cause analysis of product issues and work closely with R&D teams to implement corrective actions. · Generate validation reports and recommend improvements to testing processes and methodologies.
Skills & Qualifications · Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of experience in Protection Relay Testing, Commissioning, and Substation Automation. · Hands-on experience with Omicron/Doble relay testing, IEC 61850, MODBUS, DNP, SCADA, DFRs, and Protection Systems for Transmission & Distribution substations. · Strong troubleshooting, validation, and root cause analysis skills with the ability to support R&D testing, product validation, and field commissioning activities.
Preferred Technical Qualifications · Experience in testing and commissioning of Protection Relays, Disturbance Fault Recorders (DFRs), and Substation Automation Systems in transmission, distribution, and generation environments. · Hands-on knowledge of IEC 61850, SCADA, RTU integration, substation communication networks, and troubleshooting of protection and automation systems. · Strong understanding of power system protection schemes, relay applications, fault analysis, and coordination with utilities, EPC contractors, and project teams during commissioning activities.
