R&D Senior Engineer- Senior DB and Backend Developer -India Development Center

The Opportunity Join Hitachi Energy’s India Development Centre (IDC), an R&D organization in Chennai and Bangalore. You will work with global R&D and research centers across 12 countries. You will help design and deliver digital solutions and product capabilities. You will build modern, secure, high-performing user interfaces. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to engineering best practices, and mentor other developers.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Design, write, and optimize complex PostgreSQL queries, including stored functions, triggers, views, joins, and window functions.
• Improve database performance through index tuning, query plan analysis, and partitioning when needed.
• Build backend services using C#/.NET and/or Python, integrated with PostgreSQL.
• Develop and maintain GraphQL APIs using Hasura on top of PostgreSQL.
• Build REST and GraphQL endpoints with validations and structured responses.
• Apply strong transaction handling, error control, and concurrency management.

Your background:

• Education: (to be confirmed)
• Experience: 8+ years working with relational databases, with deep expertise in PostgreSQL.
• Strong experience with PL/pgSQL, stored routines, triggers, window functions, query tuning, and indexing strategies.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL locking, deadlocks, and concurrency/isolation levels.
• 5+ years developing backend applications with C#/.NET and/or Python.
• 2+ years working with GraphQL and Hasura on PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of REST API design and backend architecture.
• Experience using Git and standard development workflows.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
