R&D & Automation Engineer

🚀 We're Hiring: R&D & Automation Engineer (1–2.5 Years Experience) 📍 Location: Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai (On-site) 📅 Joining: September / October 2026 Imitate Labs is looking for an R&D & Automation Engineer to help shape the future of Aurra Sales Agent—our live AI voice calling platform serving businesses across real estate, insurance, automotive, healthcare, edtech, and NBFC sectors. This is a builder role, not a maintenance role. You'll focus on researching new technologies, building automation, reducing infrastructure costs, and creating AI-powered capabilities that directly drive business growth. Production maintenance and uptime are handled by a dedicated Product Engineer, allowing you to concentrate on experimentation and innovation. What You'll Work On 🔹 Cost Reduction R&D

• Evaluate and benchmark AI/voice technologies.
• Run structured experiments to reduce cost-per-minute while maintaining quality.
• Research alternatives across the AI voice stack and document findings. 🔹 Automation & Orchestration
• Build business automations using n8n, Make, or similar platforms.
• Automate hiring workflows, AI-based candidate screening, lead routing, and follow-up sequences.
• Integrate APIs, webhooks, WhatsApp, CRM, email, and internal systems.
• Design reliable workflows with retry and failure recovery. 🔹 Build New Product Features Develop analytics that customers will pay for:
• Lead scoring
• Call sentiment insights
• Objection analysis
• Client ROI dashboards
• Call optimization recommendations 🔹 Growth Engineering
• Build inbound automation from website forms.
• Support AI-powered lead qualification.
• Work on technical integrations for marketing campaigns. What We're Looking For ✅ 1–2.5 years of hands-on software development experience ✅ Strong experience with Python and/or Node.js ✅ Practical experience with n8n, Make, Zapier, or similar automation platforms (highly preferred) ✅ Comfortable working with APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations ✅ Able to independently research, prototype, and solve engineering problems Bonus Skills
• LLM APIs (OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic)
• AI agents or RAG pipelines
• WebSockets or real-time systems
• Computer Vision
