QA Test Automation Engineer

Role: Automation Test Engineer Experience : 3- 5 Years Location : Chennai Role & Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using WebdriverIO (JavaScript/TypeScript)
• Build and maintain REST API test automation and integrate it with UI-level test suites
• Apply and reinforce automation design patterns (Page Object Model, data-driven testing) across the codebase
• Work within Git-based version control workflows - branching, pull requests, resolving conflicts
• Participate in code reviews for automation scripts, both as author and reviewer, and help enforce framework conventions
• Build and maintain automation that runs reliably as part of a CI pipeline, not just locally
• Investigate test failures, distinguish genuine defects from environmental/flaky failures, and drive root-cause analysis
• Write tests engineered for reliability - proper waits, stable locators, isolated test data, no reliance on timing hacks
• Collaborate with developers, manual QA, and product stakeholders to clarify requirements and reproduce issues
• Document test cases, defects, and automation coverage clearly Qualifications:
• 3–5 years of hands-on test automation experience
• Strong hands-on experience with WebdriverIO, JavaScript, and TypeScript
• Solid experience automating REST APIs (e.g., via Axios, Supertest, or similar)
• Working knowledge of web UI and Mobile automation
• Demonstrated understanding of automation design patterns — Page Object Model, data-driven design, reusable component structures
• Solid working knowledge of Git and standard branching/PR workflows
• Demonstrated experience participating in code reviews (as author, reviewer, or both)
• Proven experience building automation that runs regularly in a CI pipeline (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar) not just scripts that pass locally
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause investigation skills - can isolate whether a failure is a defect, a locator issue, or an environment/timing problem
• Strong written and verbal communication skills - comfortable documenting findings and working cross-functionally
• Track record of producing stable, low-flake automated tests
