QA Engineer

Location: Gurugram (onsite) | Experience: 3-4 years | CTC: 4.5-6 LPA | Type: Full-time

About the role

We're looking for a QA Engineer to own functional and technical testing of our product. You'll test every feature end to end, check APIs, data and integrations behind the screen, and stop regressions before release. Automation is a plus, not the core of the job.

What you'll do

• Read requirements and user stories, and write test scenarios and test cases before development finishes
• Functional testing: feature, regression, smoke, end-to-end and UAT-support testing of the product
• Technical testing: API testing in Postman, database checks with SQL, integration points, error handling, logs and cross-browser behaviour
• Log, track and retest defects in Jira (or ClickUp) with clear steps, screenshots and expected vs actual results
• Run the regression pass before every release and give QA sign-off
• Take part in sprint planning and stand-ups
• Keep test cases, test data and release checklists up to date

Work expectations

• Owns testing for the product modules assigned each sprint
• Test cases ready for every story before it reaches QA
• Defects logged the same day they're found, reproducible by a developer without follow-up questions
• No release goes out without a completed regression run and sign-off
• Maintains a Postman collection covering the product's core APIs
• If comfortable, automates repeat regression checks over time (a bonus, not a target)

Not in this role

• Building an automation framework from scratch
• Performance, load or security testing
• Managing other testers
• CI/CD or DevOps work

What you need

• 3-4 years in software testing, mostly on web applications
• Strong grasp of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum and the defect life cycle
• Hands-on API testing with Postman
• Working SQL (SELECT, JOINs, filters) for data validation
• Comfort reading logs, browser dev tools and API responses to pinpoint where a bug sits
• Experience with Jira or a similar tracker
• Good written English for bug reports and test cases

Good to have

• Some automation with Selenium or Playwright; ISTQB Foundation
• Exposure to CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps)
• Basic performance testing with JMeter
• Experience testing products for US clients

Education

B.Tech / BCA / MCA / B.Sc (IT or CS), or equivalent.
