Job Summary

We are looking for a Junior QA Automation Engineer with hands-on experience in test automation frameworks, API testing, and JavaScript/TypeScript. The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining automated test suites for APIs and GUI applications, integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring software quality through comprehensive testing.

The ideal candidate should have experience with Playwright or similar automation frameworks, API testing, defect management, and version control systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for APIs and GUI applications.
• Build and maintain automated test suites using Playwright, Cypress, Jest, or similar frameworks.
• Perform API testing for REST and GraphQL services using tools such as Postman or Supertest.
• Implement and maintain automated tests within CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Execute unit, integration, end-to-end (E2E), regression, and performance testing as required.
• Collaborate with developers to support a shift-left testing approach, ensuring quality throughout the development lifecycle.
• Monitor automated test execution results and identify, report, and troubleshoot failures.
• Perform defect tracking, root-cause analysis, and test reporting using Jira.
• Use Git/GitHub for version control, branching, and pull request reviews.
• Conduct exploratory and non-functional testing where automation coverage is insufficient.

Mandatory Skills

• Test Automation: Hands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, Jest, or similar automation frameworks.
• API Testing: Experience testing REST APIs and/or GraphQL services using Postman, Supertest, or similar tools.
• Programming: Working knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• CI/CD: Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools for automated test execution and pipeline maintenance.
• Testing Methodologies: Understanding of unit, integration, end-to-end (E2E), regression, and performance testing.
• Defect Management: Experience with Jira, defect tracking, and root-cause analysis.
• Version Control: Knowledge of Git/GitHub, branching strategies, and pull request workflows.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Performance and load testing using k6 or Artillery.
• React component testing using React Testing Library.
• Understanding of AWS Lambda and serverless architectures for E2E testing.
• Database-level test data management using MongoDB or PostgreSQL.
• Basic security testing knowledge, including OWASP and vulnerability awareness.
• Familiarity with SonarQube for code coverage and quality gates.
• Knowledge of the BMW SCP.apps (Integrate) platform.

Experience and Qualifications

• 2 - 3 years of relevant experience in QA automation and software testing.
• Practical experience developing and maintaining automated test scripts.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with developers and cross-functional teams.
