QA Automation Engineer

Role & responsibilities

We are seeking a proactive QA Automation Engineer to lead quality engineering across our mobile & web trading applications. Operating as an autonomous, sole QA within a lean agile delivery team, you will own the entire testing lifecycle combining hands-on functional testing with the implementation of Python- and Appium-based mobile automation framework across Android and iOS.

• End-to-End Ownership: Take complete ownership of quality across releases, managing test planning, sprint testing, regression execution, and production release sign-offs as the primary QA.
• Automation Framework Expansion: Build, maintain, and scale BDD test suite (Python + Appium). Drive upcoming roadmap milestones: expanding coverage from core access flows into account management, fund transfers, and trading operations.
• Cross-Platform Delivery: Implement and extend automation coverage to iOS using Appium with the XCUITest driver, aligning it with the established Android architecture.
• Execution & CI/CD Pipelines: Run, maintain, and optimize parallel test runs locally and on cloud device platforms. Integrate automated smoke and nightly regression runs into CI/CD pipelines.
• Production Validation: Execute and maintain non-destructive production smoke checks safely without risking live financial balances or customer accounts.
• Collaboration & Defect Management: Partner directly with developers, product managers, and release managers to triage defects, agree upon stable element accessibility IDs, and ensure coverage for edge cases like network drops, session limits, and OTP handling.
• AI-Driven QA Operations: Leverage AI tools (such as Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or Cursor) to accelerate test case and scenario generation, analyze error patterns, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipeline failures.
• Stakeholder & UAT Collaboration: Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), collaborate directly with business stakeholders, and ensure end-to-end traceability of requirements in a data-driven environment.
• Team Growth & Mentorship: Conduct screening interviews and technical evaluation rounds to support future QA hiring and team expansion.

Minimum Qualifications (Must-Have)

• Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance, with at least 2+ years dedicated to mobile test automation.
• Core Automation Skills:
• Demonstrated proficiency in Python and Appium, selenium for native/hybrid mobile apps.
• Practical experience building or extending frameworks using Pytest and Page Object Model (POM).
• Hands-on knowledge of BDD / Gherkin conventions (pytest-bdd or behave).
• Mobile Ecosystem Knowledge:
• Solid understanding of the mobile app lifecycle, permissions, backgrounding, session persistence, and network recovery scenarios.
• Experience configuring and running tests on real device clouds like BrowserStack.
• API & Backend Validation: Strong ability to inspect, validate, and mock APIs using Postman or Charles Proxy to isolate client-side vs. server-side bugs.
• Lean/Autonomous Mindset: Proven track record working independentlyderiving test cases directly from feature specs, managing test data, and advocating for quality without requiring direct daily oversight.

Good-to-Have Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

• Fintech / Trading Domain Experience: Familiarity with trading concepts (forex/CFDs, quotes streaming, market vs. pending orders, TP/SL, market hours, wallet balance management).
• iOS Native Tooling: Experience setting up Xcode, and debugging issues directly via XCUITest/WDA (WebDriverAgent).
• Non-UI Test Automation: Scripting experience for utility tasks (e.g., automated validation of localization/translation JSON files, DB assertions).
• Pipeline Ownership: Experience writing or maintaining CI/CD workflow YAML files for test orchestration and scheduled nightly runs.
• Performance / Resilience Testing: Basic familiarity with mobile memory leaks, crash logs (Logcat / Xcode Console), or network throttling validation.
