QA Automation Engineer

Job Summary

We're looking for a QA Automation Engineer (1+ year experience) who owns test coverage end-to-end - not just running scripts, but thinking about what breaks, why, and how to catch it before production.

You'll work across web, backend, and mobile, building reliable automation, digging into API/backend behavior, and using AI tools to move faster.

Responsibilities

Test Automation

• Design, write, and maintain automated tests for web and mobile applications.
• Work with Playwright for web and Maestro for mobile.
• Own test coverage for features end-to-end, including edge cases and regression coverage.
• Debug flaky tests and distinguish real bugs from environment issues.

API & Backend Testing

• Write API tests for Java/Spring Boot and Python/Django services.
• Understand backend behavior and test beyond happy paths.
• Handle test data and basic SQL/Postgres verification.

Quality & Collaboration

• Work with product and engineering teams to define acceptance criteria and edge cases.
• Report bugs with clear, reproducible steps.
• Contribute to testability and quality early in the development cycle.

AI-Assisted Testing

• Use AI coding assistants such as Claude to accelerate test development, debugging, and investigation.

What You Bring

Must-Have Skills

• 1+ year experience in QA automation.
• Strong automation fundamentals and programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar web automation tools.
• Experience with Appium, Maestro, or similar mobile automation tools.
• API testing experience (Postman/Newman, REST Assured, Supertest, or similar).
• SQL basics and familiarity with relational databases.
• Strong English communication skills.

Preferred

• Hands-on experience with Playwright + TypeScript and/or Maestro.
• CI/CD and Docker fundamentals.
• k6/JMeter or other performance testing experience.
• Experience with Plane or similar issue trackers.
• Experience working with AI coding assistants.

Don't know Playwright or Maestro? That's okay. Strong Selenium/Appium experience is welcome - we're looking for people who understand automation well and can learn new tools quickly.
