QA Automation Engineer

Job Summary

Full-Time - Engineering - Bengaluru

Experience: 3-6 years

Qualification: Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field. Any relevant QA certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated test suites covering regression, smoke, and integration scenarios.
• Audit existing manual test cases and systematically convert high-value ones into reliable automated equivalents.
• Champion shift-left testing - integrate QA gates into CI/CD pipelines so every PR is validated before merge.
• Define and track QA KPIs (coverage %, flakiness rate, automation ratio) and report progress to the team.
• Collaborate with developers during sprint planning to write clear, testable acceptance criteria.
• Conduct root-cause analysis on production bugs and strengthen test coverage based on findings.
• Evaluate and introduce testing tools and frameworks that improve velocity - tool choice follows the problem, not habit.
• Mentor junior QA members and grow a culture of quality ownership across the engineering org.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on QA automation experience in a product-focused environment.
• Strong proficiency with at least one modern automation framework - Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent.
• Comfortable writing tests in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java - you use what fits best.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar).
• Experience with API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, or similar).
• Familiar with test management and bug tracking workflows (Jira, TestRail, etc.).
• Strong analytical mindset - you think in edge cases and failure modes, not just happy paths.
• Tenacious problem-solver: intermittent failures and hard-to-reproduce bugs don't discourage you - they interest you.
• Clear communicator who can bridge QA, engineering, and product without jargon.

Nice to Have

• Experience with performance or load testing (k6, Locust, JMeter).
• Familiarity with BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow).
• Exposure to mobile testing (Appium, Detox).
• Experience in ecommerce or high-traffic consumer platforms.
