QA Automation Architect

Role & responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable, and robust test automation frameworks for web, mobile, API, and backend applications.
• Define automation architecture, standards, best practices, and technology strategies across projects.
• Lead the selection and implementation of automation tools, frameworks, and technologies.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, QA, and product teams to establish comprehensive test strategies and quality engineering practices.
• Implement API, integration, regression, functional, and end-to-end automation testing.
• Optimize test execution, reporting, reliability, and framework performance to reduce testing cycles.
• Establish coding standards, conduct code reviews, mentor automation engineers, and provide technical leadership.
• Identify automation opportunities, assess risks, troubleshoot complex failures, and drive continuous improvement in software quality.
• Define automation metrics, test coverage targets, quality gates, and reporting mechanisms.
• Evaluate emerging testing technologies and incorporate suitable solutions into the automation ecosystem

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in software testing and test automation, with significant experience in automation framework development and architecture.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Hands-on expertise in Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent automation frameworks.
• Strong experience in API testing using REST Assured, Postman, or similar tools.
• Proven experience designing scalable, maintainable, and reusable automation frameworks.
• Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Git, Docker, and cloud-based testing environments.
• Experience with BDD frameworks, design patterns, test data management, and parallel test execution.
• Understanding of microservices, REST APIs, databases, SQL, and distributed application architectures.
• Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter or k6 is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor team members, and drive automation strategy across multiple projects.
• ISTQB or relevant cloud/DevOps certifications are desirable but not mandatory.
